this is way late now, but PHI-OTT was on CSN-DC in HD. I started watching that game, moved onto Survivor, came back and it was still 0-0 and Philly was on the PP. I was happy to see Ottawa win. I love when Philly loses.
Those guys are really fun. Perfect tone for that market too, IMO. They genuinely seem like they are having fun and like each other.

Yeah, I couldn’t sleep last night so I watched that. I actually enjoyed it – not being on one side or the other (much) I could appreciate the mighty goalie duel that that whole game was. Nabokov is given to sprawling, yes?

I'm actually in the minority
When you look at goalies, I don’t really think it’s worth paying one 6+ million. That’s a ton of cap hit, if the guy gets hurt you are sunk, and 6 million dollar goalies haven’t had a ton of playoff success lately. I’d rather have a reliable goalie and put more cap space into the guys that skate. Obviously you can go too far, like the PHI model, and not even have a quality No. 1, but thinking about what we would have to give up to pay for a guy like Luongo I’m not sure it’s worth it.

I’m not sure it’s worth it, but we could use a dominant goalie and once you get past the first month of the season, Luongo is just that.
I wonder how much of that failure in the playoffs is just wearing down from starting 70+ games over the course of the season? The coach may feel pressure to play the guy if he’s got such a huge contract, but I’ve been absolutely unimpressed with Kipper, Luongo and Brodeur in the playoffs as of late.
Now, do I think we’d get more benefit out of an elite defenseman? Absolutely. A guy like Shea Weber would do this team a world of good.

Another observation – Vancouver has some great chemistry and does a really good job at finding the skater in open ice.

What’s everyone watching tonight? I’ve got the sound on for the Flyers/Bruins game, but I’ve got the NSH/CBJ, OTT/TOR and FLA/NYI feeds up, as well.
I’ve got PHI/BOS on right now, we’ll see how long I can handle the NESN feed. And for those of you that follow MarioD, I’m laying the wood to him over at BSH.

Tonight has been a real lesson for all the people that clamor for a “crease clearing D.” BOS and BUF have gone shorthanded when one of their D “cleared the crease.” That shit just doesn’t fly in the New NHL.
