Can someone please explain to me ...
Why Center Ice is giving me the God Damn French language feed for the MON/ATL game. I know there is an English language feed. At least offer both. If you ask me the NHL could use a little more anti-French bias right about now. I swear the NHL has got to have some of the dumbest professionals in the world working in their ranks.

More salt in the fantasy wound – Gionta with 2 goals.

Welcome Back Phil Kessel
Just got smoooooked by Ohlund. What a hit.

Yeah, he got railed. Watching the look-ins on NHL network, the Leafs camera crew is amazing. Didn’t get to hear enough of their play-by-play guys, but whoever’s producing that broadcast is on-point in a big way.
Kessel looks a little out of sync to me, but he’s moving fast and making some opportunities. Looks like a matter of time before he starts to score again. He’s backchecking hard, too. At least he is in the look-ins, I can’t speak to the broader game.

None I think. Perfectly clean hit and the play just continued. Weird.

just saw replay on NHLN…wow. That could’ve set the Leafs back again if it’s another angle on that shoulder.
Yeah he came back, though. I think he’s fine. He did shank a good chance late in the 3rd on the PP.
It looked like there was a Leaf heading toward the scene of the hit but you couldn’t see what came of it.

Actually it looks like a TOR was heading over to Ohlund after the hit but I’m not sure if anything came of it.

I think Ohlund is pretty good. I forget who I was arguing with during the run-up to the FA season who was saying he’s washed up.

Watching some of Boston v Detroit, and damn is Helm fast, he just shot past the boston skaters like they weren’t moving
And now looking at the scoring for ATL/MON I’m really pissed CI played the French feed.

Addendum: this is the first time I’ve had an HD feed for my television. The difference is incredible, even at 720P resolution. It’s a completely different experience.
Anyone who likes hockey enough to read this site owes it to themselves to get HD for the games. Seriously.

I know exactly what you mean, I go from my 61 inch hd tv at home watching the caps to watching on a 19 inch screen and i just about cry every game i watch.
unfortunately, with the economy the way it is, I needed the money for rent. now that my other half is employed again, it might be in the cards.
Ah, but now that you’re both employed, this economy means that there are some serious deals to be had. Find a friend with it and watch the game there. I think you’ll be impressed with how much better it looks. Do your research on what to buy before you do anything, be it with a TV or a provider of TV.

I should add to that, you can often get the providers of programming played off of each other – calling to say you’re canceling service because you got a better deal elsewhere can often get you a discount on your service.

I know. How are the players or fans even complaining about that? Ridiculous. But they win fights, right?

It sure does. If Alzner wore his lucky Parros ‘stache during a game he’d beat up all 6 opponents on the ice in one shift.

He’ll never naturally grow anything with a fraction of the power of a Parros ’stache. He needs to get this baby permanently affixed to his face.

VAN has quite a few of those guys. I’d probably kill for Bieksa. If John Carlson turns out anything like Bieksa I’ll be extremely satisfied.

Meh I’m not diggin’ it but I’m not a huge jersey foul guy. I’d probably laugh at the guy if I saw him though, so it fails that test.

Nothing!
Is worse than a cell phone image my brother texted me from the game when the Caps played the Pisles on Long Island. A dude was wearing a Yashin jersey but taped over the “9” and “Yashin” with orange tape and in marker wrote “Hunter” on the jersey. Ridiculous.

Oh man
A stick just got swatted out of a guy’s hands in the COL/PHX game. Way more egregious than the Semin one. No call. Maybe :15 later COL scores a goal. Fucking NHL.

I can’t skate worth a damn, but I bet there’d be more consistent officiating if I were out there. Its out of control this season.
Completely out of control. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I just want in-game consistency. It’s like the strike zone in baseball: every ump has a slightly different one, and there are several legitimate ways to call it, all a team can ask for is that you use the same one all game. Give me the first inning or two (period in hockey) to figure out what you’re calling and then keep it steady.

watching Sharks-Wings. “Oooooooh, look, fast paced hockey! Forwards below the blue line! Look, look, they keep moving up and down the ice! Neat-o! Passes through the neutral zone!” Mr. Bird wishes I would be quiet.
As long as it’s both sides.

Mr. Bird thought it was uneven, but I saw Wings hanging all over the Sharks, too. A couple ticky-tack calls against the Wings, though.
Its all good, though, because Muppet won the game in the Gimmick. (not the Gimmick part, the “Muppet wins the game!” part)
I watched the end of regulation and the Sharks were all over the Wings, and the Wings were fortunate to not get called for any of several bear hugs and hooks.

that was by feeling, too. But I thought it best to not voice that last night. And I think maybe “ticky-tack” was the wrong word. It was more like “But you’ve let 20 similar penalties go with no call, so why that one?”
I’m watching the replay on NHLN right now. Mr. Bird has zero complaints. Zero. That goal Hank scored damn sure should not have counted. Thanks again NHL refs.

Man, the Kings are legit. Quick kept them close and then the rest of the team just dominated the Pens in the 3rd period. Great win for them.

Kopitar is having an unreasonably excellent year and the Smyth for Quincey/Preissing/5th looks better and better each day. Doughty looks like the real deal, too.
It looks like this is finally the year all the young talent on the Kings takes them over the hump and into the playoffs.

Damn
Kyle Quincey and Andrew Ladd just hit each other and Q’s foot came up and kicked Ladd in the face. Could have been much worse.

You know that scene in PCU where the guy doing his thesis on TV movies (I forget which actors) finally achieves Zen status and tries to stand up and walk but succumbs to pins and needles from being seated so long? That is me right now. I’ve watched Junior hockey, international hockey (Swedish National Junior team gives me both in one game), ~5 hours and several different games of NHL hockey, and now NCAA hockey (Min. v. Wis.) all in the same night.

I’d totally be with you if I weren’t getting down to crunch time for this semester.
I’m going to be watching so much hockey over break.

Crunch time already? Seems early for finals and late for midterms. I guess the only good thing about law school is that all you really need to do is go to finals. It sucks if you bomb them but it means you can slack as much as you want all semester if you are willing and able to lock it down for a month at the end of the semester.

Yeah, crunch time. All my exams are on or about the 7th of December, so I’m in the last month. Add in some serious projects that are due at the same time in each class and I’m going to be pretty busy.
