And that’s with Monday night’s bad stat night (though I thought he was fantastic despite what the numbers said).

I bet today is the day Giroux breaks out and translates his AHL scoring prowess to the NHL…
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
Watch out, everyone. F&B’s hitting the sauce already. (Kidding aside, I hope you’re right.)
Fight, you time-wasting figure skaters!
Ha. I actually haven’t been hitting the sauce during the GDTs for a couple weeks now. Maybe I need to break out of my slump…

You bet wrong. Today was the day Giroux demonstrated why 29 teams passed on him this summer.

I cannot put into words the disappointment of realizing that tonight’s game is on CSN+.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Me too. And it doesn’t even rob me of an HD feed. I just hate it. If it blacks out on me again tonight I may need to call one of you for bail because I am going to murder.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
It would be nice to get the HNIC feed for the GAMES OUR TEAM IS PLAYING IN.
SO FЯIENDS, IS BATTLE NOW.
And compete with the top notch local coverage? Come on. You can’t tell me you really want quality post-game analysis after a Caps game instead of more ’Skins updates.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
TBH, the quality post-game analysis is right here. Although without the pretty-for-TV faces.

Huh? You think CSN has high quality post-game analysis? Alan May is OK and they do some decent stuff but I’m not willing to say they are a high quality post-game segment.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
No, I meant the Rink.

Oh, my bad. Misread you. Definitely is some high quality analysis here. I’m toying with the idea of trying to kick it up a notch but it may be too ambitious.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
But if people are interested I can break out the MS Paint!

It’ll be NHL Network for me. A rare time when being an out of town Caps fan is beneficial in terms of TV feeds.

Has anyone done an analysis of times CSNHD shows the Wizards over the Caps when there is a conflict?
#NeedsMoreBradley
No need to do an analysis to show the Wizards get preferential TV treatment.

Montreal’s nickname is the Habs, for Les Habitants — the inhabitants. DC should come up with a cool nickname too. Perhaps we can be The Zens, short for The Denizens.
Atta dinnin stick a who!
Idiomatically, it basically translates to “the locals,” doesn’t it? considering the perception of transience that permeates the DC area, that could work.

This is completely forgetting the fact that I’m supposedly in a “Baltimore” region so I don’t get the Fios channel that shows CSN+…but b/c in theory it’s on that channel I get blacked out on NHLN b/c I’m still considered “local”.

Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
Yeah but he’d be so nervous and put so much pressure on himself he’d be a mess. I’d like a more controlled setting for him to show his goods. He’s seemed to have a problem shining in big moments so far in his career so giving him a debut in MON seems like it’s a nice thing to do for him, but not setting him up to succeed. I also don’t think his play (really production since I don’t watch Hershey) has warranted a call up over Osala so far.

Both are wings and both are waiver exempt. Not sure whether either one is better suited to RW. I think Bouchard is a natural RW and Osala is a natural LW but with AO and Semin both had better be able to play RW if they want to play for the Caps.

He can still use a D as a screen after he receives the pass. When Backstrom carries the puck the D back in more than when AO does and that lets AO get more space and closer to the net.

Glad other people notice how solid Beagle has been. The physical play at the NHL level hasn’t fazed him one bit, finally got his first goal too he’s a guy who easily fills a 4th line role and contributes. Alzner does look pretty good so far…the raw skills are there. I liked what I saw from Carlson as well…the fixes for our main issues last year are in the pipeline and that was said all along. Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
I don’t really think Paleta should have gotten suspended for that hit. The big difference between his and the one he took from Ovie was he really hit the guy in the numbers whereas Ovechkin hit him shoulder to shoulder. But both times the guy with the puck sees the hit coming and turns away from it. Stupidity or that attempt to draw a call shouldn’t get rewarded…then you won’t see guys doing that and getting hurt.
That’s a dirty hit by Kaleta.

I agree it’s worse than the Ovechkin hit b/c he hit the guy right between the numbers (clearly from behind). But the guy with the puck intentionally/stupidly puts himself in that position by turning at the last second. No way he can stop in time to prevent the hit.

Game should be a tie. No more gimmicks, NHL. Shootout is just a pain in the ass, and doesn’t bring me to the game. I don’t know anyone who goes to the game just because there’s a chance of a shootout.

my only issue would be that in 4 on 4 OT, 2 minute penalties are harsh and hardly called. if they are 5 on 5 for 10 mins, id expect some penalties to be called
4 on 4 is to get the thing over. You can’t trap away a 4 on 4 period. Go skate and win it. I don’t mind longer PPs. Just score and send everyone home.

I only caught the third period of the game, but from the looks of the first 18 minutes of that period, the Caps did not look like they wanted to win, nor did it appear as they should win. They coughed up the puck more times than I would like to remember, tried the cute and pretty pass instead of just putting the puck to the net. If you look at all three goals tonight, they were just pucks on net. No pretty passing play to the backdoor. Just hard slapshots into the net, deflected into the net, or picking up the garbage.
I need 100% of you guys to give 110% 100% of the time.

Sure, but Plekanec would have never had that shot had the Caps not just finished off that 5 on 3. Considering he had a couple of beautiful saves right before that, I can’t blame him for that goal.
Granted 21 saves on 24 shots isn’t pretty, most of those saves were. Plus the shutout in the shootout… I thinks he deserves some recognition.
I agree. There was traffic in front on that 3rd goal also. I thought both goalies were solid.
