Needs more trades, in my opinion.

Hey, if a trade getting me a better goalie or goals/ppgs comes along, I’ll look at it.

Familiar Rapports: Bald Pollack, F&B, Gould Old Days.

Lobbies: Osala, Perreault, Erskine, Pothier, Neuvirth, Flash.

Fan of: Mean Lars Backstrom, Line Mashing, Cake.

i was thinking knee picked up nittymaki just to try and pawn him come the next big-name goalie injury! (looks like he changed his mind though..)

by Natty Bumppo on Nov 23, 2009 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, I didn’t even realize he was still available. Looking that up didn’t hurt me at all. I’d have picked up Hiller already, if Giguere’s comments didn’t promise him to get a few starts, but eh.

What Giguere comments are you referring to?

If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...

by Rob Parker on Nov 23, 2009 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

The quote he made that he’d rather retire than be a back up. I’m taking that to mean he’ll get a few more starts, just to keep him long enough to deal him or Hiller.

Must have missed those quotes. If that’s the case then he’s halfway retired already, in my mind. If he doesn’t have the fire to compete for a spot then he’s toast.

Nah, I was going to start him since the Hawks are a good team and the Canes, well, aren’t. After I made the transaction, I remembered that Chicago was on the back-half of a back-to-back playing on the road and decided to start Luongo instead. In retrospect, I settled on the right choice; I ended up winning GAA outright instead of tying in wins.

I’ve been burning up the waiver wire recently because I have 2 forwards who qualify for IR, Gionta and Setoguchi. I’m just trying to get as many games of production out of the waiver-wire as I can until those two come back.

by Knee high to a duck on Nov 23, 2009 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

i’m doing the same with my one IR spot. if i were smart, i’d have stopped the musical chairs with afinegenov, though. tonight it’s jordan leopold’s ATOI for the ice.

Absolutely huge weeks for “Two” teams.

If we were doing roto scoring, Two Prongered Assault would have ~180 points out of a possible 200. Ridiculous.

If you’re anything like KHtD that’s exactly how it will play out. Keep it close with me then roll over for K_C.

Yep. Setoguchi rolled over with a leg injury, Luongo rolled over with a rib injury and all of my players forgot how to shoot the puck.

It’s Tuesday, and I’m still tied with him! I consider this a moral victory.

You’ve got a pretty strong lead in ATOI. With Prongermayer patrolling my blueline this is new territory for me.

I targeted TOI and SOG during the draft, on the theory that shot% is highly variable from year to year, so just getting guys who play a lot was a good way to get goals and points production.

So far my theory has been OK, not great.

No, it doesn’t. You’d need a kick ass black leather jump suit and an eye patch… and a face scar. I’ll be happy to help with the face scar.

the teams that didn’t start malkin and afinogenov last night, respectively, have some ‘splainin to do. new rule: no forgetting to check your roster when you’re matched up against hunter division teams.

Anyone looking for a goalie thats gonna get you good GAA and SV%, Bakstrom is on the market

by i12swim on Nov 23, 2009 4:56 PM EST reply actions

or we could just wait until you release your least favorite of backstrom and kipper. can you really afford to keep two goales while every team you play against is getting an extra skater each week, across all those skater categories?

by Natty Bumppo on Nov 23, 2009 5:25 PM EST up reply actions

RIght now the way a few of my forwards and D are playing I can. It also hurts that i believe Bakstrom is on the list of Undroppable’s by ESPN

:O
whoa. that’s BS. especially with the way our scoring works. sorry, didn’t know.

Man, did I ever get lucky waiving Brent Burns for Anton Stralman tonight. 1G, 1A, +1 and 14:00 ATOI through two periods so far.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
