Blame Tarik, not me. When this post went live, Varly was the probable.

I’ve learned my lesson trusting the beat writer for the largest paper in town over a couple of sources in a different country and language when it comes to getting a read on the Caps’ goaltending situation.

Remember that Varly played his first NHL game vs. Les Canadiens, getting the win. Hopefully it’ll be the same for Neuvy.
Please, sir, I want some BMo.

Yeah, just realized. I meant this will be a bit more of a test for him, because Montreal is better than last-year’s Tampa.

The Caps offense vs. Carey Price should make for a fun night, unless you’re one of those fans who enjoys the occasional save.

He’s been much better lately – 3-2-0/1.94/.942 in his last five starts.

I really enjoy watching Price when he is on his game. He is so calm and his movements are so fluid, it’s just a great display of goaltending.

Let’s hope for the good Caps team to show up tonight :)
I need 100% of you guys to give 110% 100% of the time.
Thread is quiet tonight… guess everyone is at the game. I had to sell my tickets cause Im stuck in class – watching on ATDHE.net

On my feed I get to hear Pierre Maguire and company talking when they think the sound is off. They dissing the music and it sounds like there never heard of Neuvirth.
Nice to see Ovechkin in the slot on the PP for once.

Have to say I like the way Beagle and Carlson are keeping the Habs in the crease tied up and clear of Neuvy.
Nice defensive play by Laraque on Ovechkin. That’s about as unlikely an occurrence as you can have in this league.

Yeah, maybe could have gotten a couple of more shots with all that zone time, but about as good of a PP as you can get without a goal. I’m liking AO down low, it’s pulling the PKers in more and giving Morrison and Green more room at the points.

Lovin’ how Backie was at the bottom of that pile. Also, what a hit on Hamrlik. Poti’s expression was priceless.

The good news
is that the Habs are something like 2-10-0 when they fail to get the first goal.
Pretty good first for the good guys.

Nah. It would’ve been stupid to let Laracque (or however you spell it) get set and really pound him, but the semi-turtle denies Montreal any momentum, and at least sends the message they’re not going to back down.
"You're gonna eat that g**d**n Koho, three!"
on the other hand we’re down a d for 5 minutes and that was a fight while we have the lead. if hed taken a hit it woulda gotten broken up and laroque woulda been done for the game.

TSN guys are positively drooling over Carlson. They’ve also raved about the Caps’ four-line balance and how big the 3rd and 4th liners are (presumably overlooking MP). It’s fun to be good.
“This guy’s going to be a monster some day….He’s just so good.” – TSN on Carlson (right after he rang one off the post).
They also were noting that the Habs could have picked Carlson, but then traded that pick for Tanguay. In an attempt to make Habs fans depressed I guess.
At least they didn’t trade that pick for Eminger.

Hah, this would suggest everyone’s healthy at some point.
Anyway, I think most are banking on Nylander going poof so a roster slot opens, but they also don’t want him to ride the bench.
Yeah, good catch – obviously not everyone will be healthy and each player has a role to play so call ups somewhat match the role of the injured player. At this point I don’t know what to think of the Nyles situation. I prefer not to think of it at all and just hope for the quickest resolution.
On offense, call it Beagle for Gordon on the checking line, MP for Semin or Laing or Knuble. We’ll see.

With that assist, Perreault is 3rd among rookies (with more than 1GP) in points per game. Following Van Riemsdyk and Tavares.
Well done, sir.
Ovechkin went way out of his way to deck whoever that was.

This is more and more looking like a injury redux of last year. GMGM and Fishman are probably running cap numbers as I type this.
A man gotta have a code
Gonna guess that Chris Miller don’t watch too much hockey:
Milan “Loose-ich”
“Took-a” “Rusk”
Paul “Guss-tad”
C’mon, man.
As for the Caps, I have no doubt they’ll pull this one out. After all, they’re shooting at the net with all the goals in it this period.

I think we are missing semin really badly right now, they are putting a ton of pressure on Ovie and it seems no one else can create space for him or do anything with the space they have.
Sigh. Langway would’ve put his stick on Moen’s and it would have been like it was super-glued in place. That’s the way to defend a guy in front. Very poor tie up by Poti.

And the Canadiens have been patient tonight. That’s exactly my point, this team really struggles against patient teams when they can’t play their run and gun style.

No, it’s not for lack of effort.
Look, Beagle and Laich both had breakaways they did nothing with. Semin probably buries at least one of them.
Carlson hit a pipe that would have given them a two goal lead.
Just a snakebit sort of night. No big deal.

There was a really great Italian restaurant close to te arena, the creamy pasta sauce alone made me gain 5 pounds.
Nightlife was great but I must’ve missed the amazing touristy thing.
Not even doing the touristy thing (leaving Friday, coming back Sunday), strictly hockey, bringing back Cubans, maybe going to a strip club or two.

another one goal loss…… they are in every game this year. just a frustrating nite - nothing going our way.
but taking 3 penalties in the 3rd period didn’t help our cause. first time i’ve seen a diving call in a long time…. (BMo got “caught” doing that) I didn’t think it was a dive…there was a stick in between his legs - and I’m talking about the wooden kind….
