Ovechkin named Second Star for October
"Ovechkin led the NHL in goals (14), points (23), shots (85) and tied for second place in plus-minus (+10) as the Capitals went 8-2-3 and opened a seven-point lead in the Southeast Division. Ovechkin matched Mario Lemieux’s NHL record for October with six two-goal games and his 14 goals matched the most he has scored in a calendar month (March, 2008). The reigning NHL MVP became the third player in NHL history to tally at least three points in each of his first three games of a season, joining Guy Lafleur with Montreal in 1975-76 and Peter Stastny with Quebec in 1982-83. Ovechkin had five goals and four assists in that span. " - Press Release

Rec for lol
Maybe play with an edge, be a little more physical -- maybe be more of a prick out there.

hahaha. Yes, yes we are. We must pause and reflect on how much the Avs sucked last year. It seems like Anderson has always been a good goalie on bad teams. I mean, he was the only reason the Panthers had a chance to get into the playoffs last year.

We’re spoiled by this site too.
I’ve been patrolling the site, looking at other teams (Ravens, Pens, Blues), and none even come close to the Rink. Most have about 20 comments on a good day. This has been up for 3 hours and has 15. The post below has over 100. Having someplace to go to talk about hockey with educated people, is vastly under appreciated. Being elite works fine for me ;)

I have to laugh at this comment, just because this particular fanpost is drawing mostly threadjack-eriffic snark. But the point definitely holds for the other two front page items today.

this fanpost was just calling out for “threadjack-eriffic snark” (awesome description, btw). Only in DC could fans pull off snarktastic “DEY DKR JERBS!” with a mostly straight face.

IMG is kicking itself this morning. They :: knew :: they shoulda signed Craig Anderson when they had the chance. Now they’re stuck with Mister Second Star.
A teachable moment, maybe they’ll do better next time.

Guess we’re going to find out what kind of “heart” the team has now.
