Any Inline Hockey Players?
Hey guys, I play in the adult league over at the Dulles Sportsplex right off of Rt. 28 and we're in need of two players for next season. It's a pretty competitive league and we're regularly one of the better teams - been to and lost in the finals each of the last two seasons. It's a very run-and-gun league, averaging just short of 12 goals a game.
It doesn't really matter if you're a forward or defender because we've got enough guys that can play up or back. Age isn't that big of a deal either - I'm the youngest player at 20 (almost 21) and the oldest is 34, although there are players in the league well over 40. Most of the team is between 24 and 30 though. If anybody is interested and would like to come out for a game or two to try it out or just would like to know more about the team, league, whatever then let me know.
Thanks guys.

Ah, I played you last season probably once then. I was on The Well Mannered Sea Bass. My main position is goal though, I was just playing D on that team for fun.
I think one of the games was pretty good but our goalie sucked so bad you guys were scoring with floaters from the blue line. He killed our season last year, even the mad dads could score 6 or 7 on him.
One guy just drove his semi as a float. I guess semis are cool.
We played you guys twice last season and won 9-2 and 8-2. The first game was probably the one you’re talking about cause I scored twice and I can’t shoot for shit.
I played goal for Ex-box in the gold league. We had like a C level team + me and donovan.
Looks like they aren’t going a gold this year?

Ex-box.. I take it that’s Bill van Cleve’s team that migrated to Dulles?

Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. It’s pretty big mix of skill level. Some guys are really good. Some play semi-pro inline. Some guys can barely skate. Some teams like the mad dads have a bunch of guys that fall on your legsand end up playing dirty as shit “unintentionally.”
Last season there were a ton of teams in the lower division and the upper division had a few teams so the competition was pretty good overall
Plus it’s pretty cheap, like 80-100 depending on how many guys your team has.

My older bro won – was it gold or silver? I think silver – at amateur nationals as a goalie in in-line hockey a number of years ago.
Austin had some pretty solid in-line talent a few years back, until people started smashing cars with sticks after losses and got hockey banned literally everywhere in town at this point.
The similarity to the gripping drama ‘Footloose’ is not lost on me.
Hockey is banned in Austin? That sounds ridiculous. That was on my lists of places to move to for awhile too. =\

There’s still plenty of ice hockey, but all the rinks are 30 minutes north of town, which for here is like an hour+ in D.C. Austin was a huge inline hockey town, spoiled by about 4 guys who thought hockey was about being a juvenile delinquent on and off the “ice”. They went from place to place getting hockey shut down.
