Hi friend, perhaps you’d be more comfortable with an avatar, as it’s both cold and rainy out, and avatars and bacon go well together.

Goalie
So is Varly the goalie because Theo was so bad last time an Varly was breathtaking? Makes sense to me but didn’t Bruce say that he wasn’t going to go with the hot hand earlier in the season??
I’m going with a tasty Malbec tonight. What’s everyone else drinking?

Arlington TV?
I’m not seeing it on channel 77 – my cable guide is telling me the game is only on the NHL network.
Do you know what’s going to be on CSN? College basketball Charleston Southern at Maryland…WTF??? Have you ever heard about Charleston Southern? Are the CSN folks out of mind?…
You forget that CSN insists on forcing Maryland sports (Ravens, Orioles, and University) down our throats.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
You really think CSN forces the Ravens and O’s down our throats? I think they force the Skins down our throats way too much. Since they lost the contract with the Ravens and O’s, they barely do any features on them.
I’m not complaining about Maryland, though. ;-)
so what are you watching, Terps BB or Caps Hockey? Perhaps both PIP, or on two TVs?
"I play Russian roulette every day - a man's sport - with a bullet called life"
Actually I’m at work, and I kinda work in sports, so I have it on two TVs directly next to each other. I’m also watching some NHLCI games, too.
I love my job!
sweet. have fun with it. I finally moenied up to the NHHCI package last week, liking it, just wish all the games were in HD
"I play Russian roulette every day - a man's sport - with a bullet called life"
Orioles, yes. It’s always looked to me like the Nationals play second fiddle to the Orioles for dumb reasons (Of note, I’m a Cardinals fan). Also, Ravens seemed to get a lot of coverage. I wasn’t aware they lost their contract, but in the past, it always seemed to me to be Maryland-Centric, and frankly, so is MASN.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
I choose not to watch MASN. I feel like Anita Marks is the only original content they have and her show is based out of Baltimore, so I get the O’s/Ravens/Maryland thing. You have to expect Maryland coverage though. It’s one of the biggest local programs.
I actually preferred CSN’s coverage of the O’s and Ravens to MASN’s coverage now. I find that they do a good job of splitting O’s and Nats coverage, despite not having TV rights anymore.
I don’t just base it on TV, for what it’s worth. WaPo is crazy pro O’s, and seems to avoid the Nats.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
WaPo dropped their Os beat writer position, and no longer does a weekly Os baseball chat (any Os chat, actually). They don’t ignore the Nats, heck, Boz had a column at the top of the sports section today devoted 75% to the nats (and 25% to “Ted, I’m sorry, I was really really wrong, you were right, and now the Caps are awesome.”)
Although Nats coverage isn’t what it used to be since Svrluga went to the Skins beat. (sad)
It’s up, but it’s the Wild broadcast.

yep, I’m officially an HD elitist snob. I will only watch CAPS in SD when I am forced to, like tonight
"I play Russian roulette every day - a man's sport - with a bullet called life"
Definitely. CSN+ looks fine of my regular SD TV in my room, but on my 50" plasma it looks god awful. I’m watching it on a plasma at work right now, and it’s hard on the eyes.
I’ll let it slide this time. lol
Let’s focus our anger at CSN for showing the wiz in HD over the top team in the East… sigh
It’s not even the Wiz tonight…it’s Maryland Basketball. It’s the season opener, so I guess that’s why they get the love. I’ve noticed that when there’s two teams playing at the same time, the away team will get the HD channel and the home team gets the crap channel. They need to just get a CSN+ HD channel bc we know this game is being shot in HD.

OT – but the Islanders are already up 2-0 over the Canes. Tavares scored within the first 5 minutes. That’s 6 for him on the season, for those that might care.
I honestly don’t want anyone the Clark/MP/Fehr line to play with the puck in the neutral zone unless it’s MP. Fehr and Clark look clueless with the puck between the bluelines.

the Minny announcers just said it went from 7-2 shots Minny to 14-7 Caps. scary talented team we’ve got just wish they’d keep that intensity for 60 minutes
That’s on Brads. Didn’t get the puck deep into the MIN zone so we had less time to change, then Brads didn’t get to the bench fast enough. Poor job.

Yeah but that last one was pretty stand-still. I do think they’ve been more creative and moving more. BMo has a lot to do with that. A lot of PPs the movement starts at the point and you’ve seen BMo moving around the zone but AO pretty much hangs out in that quadrant of the zone. He really needs to be all over.

Btw, on the PP without Ovie. I think the rest of the unit stands around too much and doesn’t get the nice puck movement we’ve been seeing in his absence going. If you can continue that WHILE bringing Ovie back into the mix it could end up looking like the #1 PP unit we all know they can produce.
Semin wouldn’t nessacrily look creepiest, just most surprising. Does he even shave yet?

Pothier doesn’t deserve that “+”, that goal was all Fehr and Perreault.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
Still scored the goal on a nice shot. It was a nice 3-man play.
And yes I just opened this thread to see the MP lobby celebrate :)
This
And I propose that the restrictions on “This” be loosened for GDT’s because nobody refreshes the pages to see the actual recs. “This” will tip off those already in the conversation.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
People don’t like “This” because it just takes up space and doesn’t add anything. Normally you see the rec and you can tell when people agree with you. That won’t auto refresh like the comments so all the recs that have been dropped since you opened this thread are still “0 recs.” In that case I think it makes more sense to use “This” because it gives the visual tip of agreement that normally “X recs” provides.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...

He had time out high but wasn’t confident to shoot so he held it too long and didn’t get a good shot. The D got a piece of it too I’m pretty sure. And as BL notes below, it still led to an good scoring chance. By nitpicking I’m pointing out how strong his game is; it’s a rhetorical effect.

Here’s a crazy suggestion. Yes, I’m the first to admit it’s crzay. If we wanted to bring Ovi back comparatively slowly (and not give him uber minutes upon coming back), put Ovi on the third line with Perrault and Clark. We’ll then get to see what Perrault does with real talent on his line. Voila, three scoring lines. (I would have said, leave the “top” two lines alone but we have a vacancy since Knubs is out. Maybe put Fehr in Knubs’ place.)
Or course, we still put Ovi on the power play (maybe not at the point.)
We’ll move Ovi back to his customary spot once his “feet are wet” and/or when either the current 1st or 2nd line needs a spark.
that’s cause he’s a flea

I thought the Caps did to Minnesota what Pittsburgh did to the Caps in the ECSFs last year. Forechecked them to death, got a ton of chances and made their goalie stand on his head. It appears the role players are improving.
Saying that implies the Wild actually has offensive weapons. Let’s wait until March/April before making those. Let’s hold off making some of those comparisons.

Woah, I’m just saying that’s what they looked like tonight. The Wild may not be potent offensively but that doesn’t mean the Caps weren’t excellent.
I agree they played good defensively, but it is November, and it is the Wild. I liked a defensive game they played against a very good Rangers team this time last year, and it meant dick in the end result.
