So what's the (best) deal on getting some tickets?
Great to have the Rink Ticket Exchange, but it's looking a little lean for the game I want to go to - Buf 11/25.
Anybody used the Ticket-Raper exchange? I was hoping to sit in the lower (blue) section, but c'mon - $130 minimum for these? Aren't these $85 tickets? I love how we are 'sold out' so ticket brokers can bend us over. Is this game a red, white or blue?
Until recently I almost always bought my tickets from the Brother Man outside the arena and never paid face. Does this still go on or is that market dried up?
Thanks in advance!

There have been plenty of people selling tickets outside at every game I have been to so far. Also saw some decent lower level tickets availiable for that game through ticket exhange for around $80 each.

i’d guess there will be plenty of people who can’t go to that game in particular due to thanksgiving travel… maybe just haven’t posted yet.
i thought on ticket exchange the minimum is the face value… but it’s a red game, so i don’t know. http://capitals.nhl.com/v2/ext/Guest%20Services/PriceChart.pdf
"No Brooks Laich, no win. Know Brooks Laich, know win."
This Red/White/Blue thing is new to me, but it certainly makes single game tickets a bit of a hose job. Or maybe they just like to think of it as an incentive for buying season tickets.
I should have mentioned – since this is the only game I will be able to attend in DC (SCF notwithstanding) I am being kind of snob and looking for something more blue line/red line lower level.
Russian Machine very rarely breaks.
It’s not an incentive for season tickets — they might have been able to sell out, or close. It is, however, a way for the team to make a little additional coin on desirable games (all weekend games, I think, along with some choice opponents on weekdays). If you listen to Ted, the team still doesn’t particularly make a profit (not the same as Lincoln Holdings being profitable, which I’d guess it actually is with the 44% ownership in Washington Sports & Entertainment). I don’t have that much of a problem with it in theory, but then, I’m a season ticket holder, so it doesn’t affect me.

The TicketExchange won’t let you sell for less than face value.
FWIW I probably won’t use my ticket, but I only have a single seat (I think you’re looking for two, right?)
is that new this year? last year I sold almost all my tickets for less than face value, I was just looking to unload them and make back what I paid as a STH.
It’s just ticketexchange that won’t let you sell for less than face value. Anyplace else will let you set whatever price you want. I guess ticketmaster doesn’t want you competing with the box office. Of course, if they’re sold out, there’s nothing you’re competing against.
That’s new this year.. And completely sucks. Just went on to check it out and they wouldn’t let me sell my $20 for less than $35.
mega suckage.
Guess I’ll just have to sell my seats to fellow rink rats, friends, and the occasional craigs list ad.
I’ve had great luck with the JRTE (Thank you, Zephyr!).

+1 for stubhub. Usually can get the tickets for way under face value only problem is you have to pay for FedEx two day shipping so in the end you end up paying close to face value if you only buy one or two tix. The problem I have with ticket exchange is that it is basically promoting STH to make a profit off of their tickets by forcing them to sell at face value. You as a buyer are more than likely doing the STH a favor by buying tickets that he/she would otherwise have to eat and they are profiting off of you. I know there are plenty of people here that go to one or two games a month and sell the rest of their tickets and at the end of the year come out on top.
