Interviewer Doug Stolhand: Your team had the second fewest fighting majors in the NHL last season. I’m curious if that’s the result of the roster you were given or is that a reflection of the style you prefer to play?
Paul Maurice: We prefer not to lose fights. I think that’s the way we approach it, and if we had players here that could use intimidation or physicality to our advantage we would. We don’t feel that it’s an advantage to us here. But, more importantly in answering that, is we never feel that we get to a puck second because we don’t have a lot of heavyweights or so-called tough guys or enforcers in our lineup. We still manage to get to the puck first. We take hits if we have to to make plays and compete very, very hard. The fact that we didn’t fight is not an indication of our team toughness. Had we got the puck second over the course of the year, I would say that it was a problem for us, but based on the personnel we have, we don’t need to fight to win games.

Wonder how that strategy worked out for them Saturday.
"Good crowd out there tonight, boys, let's really try to win this one."
