Schultz to Play Against Philly?
Per TEB, looks like Schultz will play in Philly...and Sloan the game after that.

Guess I can halt production on the “Free Jeff Schultz” shirts…

I’m not sure I get Erskine on the 2nd pairing, but I’m pleased to see 55 in the lineup…here’s hoping he makes it impossible to remove him.
"You're gonna eat that g**d**n Koho, three!"
Yeah, Erskine/Poti doesn’t sound like a great pair to me… but it was effective last year (albeit in limited minutes).

It makes sense. Poti can cover for Erskine quite nicely, much better than Jurcina (for example) would be able to. Now how they make the minutes work is of course a question, but…
But it implies way too many minutes for Ersky (as you note), and when I think of guys who need to be covered for, it’s guys like Green, not Ersky.

And why is Pothier sitting when he is one of our 3 puck movers and has looked pretty decent so far?
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
I have no answers for how Bruce has handled the D thus far this fall.

I would love an honest answer from Gabby as to how he determines which Dman gets a sweater.

Not just a lot of minutes – a lot of hard minutes. Poti generally plays against the opposing team’s best offensive line and Erskine simply doesn’t have the skill to stymie those kinds of players.
I loved Poti/Schultz as a shutdown pair last year. No idea why we haven’t seen more of it.
This is exactly what concerns me. Erskine is great in a limited role, but I don’t feel warm and fuzzy thinking about him getting a fair amount of time against Philly’s top 2 lines. Glad BB is getting this out of his system on Tuesday though.
I ain’t flying 2500 miles across the country to see Erskine playing 3/4 pairing minutes against the Rangers on Thursday . I like the Lumberjack and all, but not that much.
So what about that whole “keep the pairs together” thing as a reason to be sitting Schultz and Sloan in the first two games?

If our D gets turned inside out I’m going to blame Bruce for this one. He generally rolls with the lines he uses in practice and sitting Pothier out and Bumping Erskine up to a top 4 dman makes no sense.
One guy just drove his semi as a float. I guess semis are cool.
