Tuesday Night, Caps @ Flyers - Where ya watching?
I had a blast watching the first game @ ESPNZone w/ gotsparkly, IRocktheRed, Knee high to a duck, and ChrisAm.
I had an even better time watching the home opener in Section 407 with Sombrero Guy and his posse (THANK YOU Zephyr and Japers' Rink Ticket Exchange!!!!)
And I'm ready to be social again Tuesday night.
Caps are hosting a official-type viewing party at Front Page in Arlington.
Who else is going where to see the game?

I’m flexible and can go wherever. This one is on Versus again so we have to be a little careful about where we go. Front Page is a pretty good spot but might take a while for me to get down there.

I could do Front Page but I get out of class at 7:15.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
I may go to Glory Days and redeem my free wingage.

My free wingage is spoken for – that will be redeemed Friday night with my dad and my brother in tow. (That was the first question I got asked on the phone Sunday morning – did you get the free wings?)
Does Glory Days get Versus right now?

Dont know for sure, but my gut feeling is cable. We went there for wings last season on a game night, and watched. The way it’s set up, the only way you can choose what you want to watch at each booth would seem to be via cable. Then again, I’ve never had a satellite, but I’d assume you need a receiver for each station to watch a different channel. Cable can be wired.
This is not necessarily true. Airplanes with DirecTV, for example, have a similar setting to that which you describe.

I’ll be at home. The Bird household has to endure the Twinkies-Tigers game beforehand. (talk about testing the strength of a marriage. One of us is going to be supremely pissed off, the other will have to temper their celebration accordingly.)
As a Yankees fan, I’m just glad you’re playing the game! If you could both run through a bevy of middle relievers, I’d be very appreciative. =)

boooooooooooooo! Mr. Bird and I decided that it would be more fun if we could just take the Tigers’ starters, Mauer, the Twinkies bullpen, Caberra, Cuddybear, Granderson, etc. and make our own Yankees-beating team, and thus avoid the heartache that is sure to come.
Mind you, I had to watch the Twins lose game 163 to the White Sox last year. It hurt. Mr. Bird had to watch the Tiger’s blow a 7 game lead on Sept. 1 to the Twins AGAIN. We’re both ripe for redemption, but one of us is going to be in tears.
I had planned to watch at home, but if there’s a friendly Rink Rat crowd in the Arlington-Alexandria area, I’ll join in.

Ima liking the Front Page option (link to FP Arlington in the article title ^) as the official unofficial Rink Rat hangout for Tuesday night Caps @ Flyers. It will be crowded, and noisy, and I hope they have big screens on their teevees. But at least we probably won’t get stabbed.
If you’re gonna be catching the game elsewhere, post it here anyway. More options = more happy Caps fans/Rink Rats.

You might want to call ahead….I popped into the first game and it looked like they only had the Caps game in the back on a hazy projection screen. They were trying to get a feed off of the internet. Looked like they may have DirecTV, we didn’t stick around long enough to find out.
Since the Caps are sponsoring this, maybe it’ll be better/different, just sayin it looked a little Mickey Mouse on Thursday.
(Union Jacks, across the street in the Ballston mall gets Versus and had a lot of Caps fans Thursday night, btw)

Thanks Hooks. Will do. I’ll post what I find a bit later. Will you come and let us buy you a beer?

Thanks for the offer….I might be able to make it out tomorrow night but can’t confirm it 100%.

Never been in Union Jack’s. Is it a bigger place than Front page?

It’s right next to Rock Bottom in the mall, and I think it’s a bit bigger than TFP.

Gotta watch at home...
Living in Germantown, working in Herndon means Mike gets up at 6:15 AM every weekday… it’s rough on game nights, but for away games during the week… no way.
Let's go Caps!
If one were to have a ticket to the game in Philly...
…what kind of reception would one get, wearing a Caps t-shirt?
Bring your sense of humor and asbestos underwear – and be careful. Win or lose, I recommend against hitting a bar after the game in light of two Flyers fans getting stabbed by other fans last night.
I’ve been to Wachovia Center once. It’s nice and most of the people were cool, but I wouldn’t want anyone getting hurt and since Flyers fans can’t seem to manage civilization…

Er, that should be “some” Flyers fans. Most of them were okay.

Good to know, thanks – and yeah, that incident was what made me ask. Not really looking to get stabbed on a Tuesday night!

You’re going to get beer on you. There will be a lot of Smack talk. You’ll be fine as long as you don’t cheer to loud.
One guy just drove his semi as a float. I guess semis are cool.
That’s my problem. I’m cheering if we’re winning. I’m not going to let some sore loser piss-ant Flyers fans intimidate me because they like another sports team. Then again, I’m too old to be fighting. So I just won’t go to any sporting events in PHI. Simple solution.

Duly noted. Worth a try once, and beer washes off, right? If nothing else it’ll be a good contrast from the VC.

I don’t know. I don’t handle invasions of my personal space very well. Certainly not of the beer or fist variety. You can really say whatever you want to me, but you should be prepared for a response. I don’t get the impression that PHI fans are willing to respect those terms so I’ll avoid it.

Momo’s on U Street for me. They turn the sound up and put it on the plasma that is hooked up to Dish Network. Bonus: excellent wings.

For future reference, what’s the nearest metro stop?

The U Street stop on the green line is less than a block away.

Cool. Downtown DC is easier for me than Arlington and U Street – Cardozo is a snap to get to.

Other downtown DC venues with Versus:
Lucky Bar (as seen in this blog post on the topic) on Conn. Ave. in Dupont
Mackey’s on L Street near Farragut North metro
The Green Turtle by the VC (they switched to Comcast last week for obvious reasons)
