Caps Lead League in Points

For all that I'm sure Evgeni Malkin will score and this fantastic points list will look very different  few more games into the season, the current league-wide points leaders are:

1. Alexander Ovechkin (6)

2. Brooks Laich (5)

3. Alexander Semin (5)

4. Nicklas Backstrom (5)

5. Wojtek Wolski (4)

It has to warm the heart of any cas fan to see that. By the way you can see it straight from the NHL here:

Ovie also leads the league in plus/minus and goals while Backstrom leads in assists. Another interesting point is that Alex Semin has been credited with winning 100% of his face-offs. While he may be competing in fewer face-offs than say Steckel or Gordon, this is still impressive. Hopefully all of these stand after the game against Philly.

If Laich keeps it up, I’m going to put up a shrine to him in my apartment.

Fight, you time-wasting figure skaters!

He’s obviously the next Capitals bobblehead.

“going to” put up a shrine? I sacrifice a penguin on the altar of my Laich Shrine every game! Get with the program and build on NOW.

Yeah soak it up. We’re 1/42th of the way through the season.

Depends. You could look at it with respect to days, time played, or games played. 1/41 GP, probably 1/42 or so TOI played, and days…well hardly any.

As Andy Samberg would say: Laich a boss!

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
