Theo is currently #3 in the league in save %
Never thought I'd see him there. Guess that third period against PHI had its advantages.

But somehow Varly starts in goal tonight, per Corey.

The Caps have back-to-back games with travel in the middle. It makes sense for each goalie to get one of the games.

I think Bruce has it in the right order too. Atlanta (esp. without Kovalchuk) doesn’t have as much firepower up front as the Islanders do (with Tavares and, of course for the Caps, Jon Sim).
Side note to Ted (I know he reads this) if you can free up a little cap space, can you get Jon Sim just to avoid his usual efforts against the Caps. You know the team he plays second best against is Carolina….

I’m not afraid of Jon Sim.
Maybe play with an edge, be a little more physical -- maybe be more of a prick out there.

Nice find.
Varly is #30 on the list meaning there is at least one team out there with no goalies in the top 30: Detroit (Surprise!) Columbus (somewhat of a surprise) and Toronto (no surprise).
And look at Cristobal Huet and his $5.5M, #29 with a .885 save percentage, and at Theo with his $4.5M, and #3 in the league…

Theo’s been silly so far this season. If team defense rounds into shape a little more, the national commentators might have to give up on the old THE CAPS SCORE A LOT, BUT THEY ALLOW A LOT OF SCORES TOO LOL “analysis.”

That’s still a fairly accurate statement this season when referring to Varly.

The Caps are conspiring to pad Theo’s stats!
