"Boston just introduced the players," Boudreau said. "They didn't show any banners, did they? Their goals are bigger than division championships. I think ours are bigger than division championships. We raised the banner last year. There's no sense in raising it again."

Saw that. Loved it.
Still, it may be too much for Coach Woods:
“We don’t hang up division championships. We don’t hang up conference championships. The only thing you’re going to see hanging are [AHL] championships.”

this is an old rehash, but does it ever get stale ragging on these?

…they’re a freaking disgrace to the city of Washington.
The only team to win anything in the VC are the Caps (four division titles and a conference championship). Nothing from the Wizards and only these horsebleep banners from the Mystics. Since Ted owns the Mystics, do you think he might want to get rid of those things?
Let's go Caps!

eh, the banner raising last year was fun. Given that every guy on the ice last year was on the team except Theo, it felt like a chance for the fans to give a full-throated roar of appreciation for the wild ride. Given how starved the franchise (including the fans) was for success, it was an enjoyable celebration. I understood why they did it. I understand why they’re not going to do it this season, and I don’t have a problem with it.
Agreed. No problem with that ceremony. It was the right ceremony for that time period. And not doing it this year is also right.
