Ovie Has Heart
This is a pretty cool story about how Alex Ovechkin did something nice for a random stranger (and a Sabres fan!). Try to get past the fact that it seems to be written by a 13-year-old girl.

Nice story, though the bigger picture – how it’s written – makes me fear for our collective future as a species.

We see this every game
My STs are at the glass inside the Blue line where the Caps warm up, so pre-game we can’t really even get to our seats because the lower section is open to the whole arena for fans to come down to see the players. Most of the time, we don’t go down there because I think its more important for other people, especially young kids, to be able to see the players up close and possibly get a practice puck then it is for me to sit there and watch warmups.
But when we are down there, or if we come in late, there is NEVER a shortage of pre- and early-teen aged girls with their camera phones snapping pictures, giggling, fawning on each other and INCESSANTLY SQUEALING “Brooksie!”, “Ovie!” and “Backs!” or sometimes a more intimate “Nicky Baby!” (ahem!) everytime one of them skates by.
I think they all talk like this. I’ve heard less uses of the word “like” at a International Simile Writing Contest.

Lucky you. That’s five minutes — and probably two-to-three years of maturity — that I will never get back.

Writing aside … what a wonderful story. How anyone thinks that Sidney Crosby is an honorable mention for a Lady Byng and Ovi is not is an idiot.

OMGAAA!!!
I don’t know what is more depressing. The writing of the story or the comments.
But we already know that Ovechkin is an amazing person. There was a story about him visiting a young boy in Toronto with Lukemia or something. That was pretty cool.
