I was watching MSG’s Rangers Pre-Game Report. Caps fan living in NYC. I don’t hate any of the New York teams either.
absolutely we should be! :D
are you a part of the Red Skate Yahoo group? http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/theredskate/
It’s small, but it’s nice to know that there are other Caps fans in town :D
Thanks for the info!
It’s cool that I’m starting to find out about the online hockey stuff, because not only am I female, I work in the arts, so all of my regular friends look at me as if the real “me” has been kidnapped by aliens if I ever try to talk about hockey. They just don’t understand!
no problem! i’ve met a few of the guys in the group and they’re all cool dudes. maybe next time we have a group game-watching I won’t be the only lady!
I know what you mean though- hockey doesn’t really overlap with any of my other interests, so it still weirds out some of my friends :)
drop me an email! i’m smaksimo at gmail
Ha! The majority of people in this thread are the Caps fans not living in the DC area.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
LoL. Not surprised. On Mile High Hockey (Avs), the three who run the blog live in three different states and none is Colorado. I think they live in Kentucky, Oklahoma and New Hampshire.
Yeah, I know one of the guys who runs their blog – he lives in Louisville, Kentucky.

Looks like everyone is at the game tonight. Had to miss this one tonight but I’ll be at the Flyers game at least and in the Press Box for a while too.
That’s pretty cool. So we’re rolling with a bit of a skeleton crew tonight.
Goes without saying, but Caps need to get a good start. Let’s face it, the Rangers are a little hungrier than average for this game.

Yeah I’m working on getting my credentials to join other “big timers” in the Press Box, so it’s one big step forward for the Kremlin. Any, we need a goal in the first 5 to really set the pace of the game.

Rangers penalty.
Two for hooking.

Believe it or not, Backstrom leads the league in power play points.

Brash has really developed some moves this season. His rushes can be exciting though slow.

Vogel mentioned on Precap that Brash has scored a goal against every team in the league except for Montreal and the Rangers. Maybe tonight’s the night.
Hey, after nearly 1000 games in the league, you ought to have at least one against every team. :)

Dawes had to take that penalty of else Fehr would have sunk that one.

for your intermission entertainment
Bruce Boudreau on Ovechkin not making the All-Star Game starting lineup:
“I think it’s dumb.”
such wise words, he rivals Archimedes!

Isn’t it basically Ana/Chi vs. Habs/Pit for the first few minutes? Terrible.

i was so pissed off at the bolts game… forgot to make my picks & was on the phone during the national anthem trying to beat the deadline.
locked out.
denied.
by my own frickin’ website.
it was horrible.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Clark just got smacked down. After he started it.
Poor guy.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
no, no, i don’t know about this. we were joking around about comisarek and so i was just recalling that redden is a former all-star, isn’t he? i was thinking once you’re in that club, you can be called an all-star. sorry about the confusion!
Prucha’s been the best NYR forward so far. Even before the goal.

CapsKremlin is doing great tonight w/ the Green picks on SPG.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
hey I don’t even change my own picks… but every man has his price… :)
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
This looks like a caps’ power play.
Nice pressure.

I was just about to say how happy I was to see Theodore catch one offa’ the shoulder.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
I don’t know if it’s been discussed but I think Clark has been playing quite well since his return. He’s his gritty self again, and that’s what we need right now.
I’m still kind of stunned that Slovakia upset the U.S.

Delly a bit out of control all the time. :)

By the way, thank you for pointing me in the right direction about the free Center Ice tonight.

Smokin’ Al Koken would have to tiptoe to breastfeed from Dave Steckel.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Lookout, Rangers have a fresh sheet of ice for their 3 seconds of power play…

The Rangers are taking too many liberties with our guys.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Yeah, even people in Pittsburgh who watched the Pens’ game against Florida are saying Crosby deserves a thumbsdown
for not having the balls to fight fairly or take off your visor before you jump somebody.
Like I said in that earlier post, he was just venting frustration. But it doesn’t bode when when your captain loses his cool like that.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Actually the same Pittsburgh dude whose comments I’m quoting actually gave Crosby a thumbs up for trying to be a leader to fire up his team in front of the home crowd. But seriously, mugging someone (McLean is a clean player, just hard worker type) who’s not expecting anything like that is thuggery and a “douche move,” according to same guy.
The girliest hammer fists I’ve ever seen.

Semin may have had weak punches, but Staal is lucky the refs pulled Semin off him once he hit the ice. Semin was going at him pretty hard.

No chance for the Gordie Howe hat trick, though. He got a game misconduct.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
If someone can come up with a more idiotic rule in hockey…a misconduct and game suspension for a jersy not tied down
How long will Semin be out with a fractured hand after the linesman tackled him & he hit the ice.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Semin vs. Crosby, now we know it CAN happen…but will it?

Great pass that Fehr couldn’t bury. Props to Eric for positioning.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Rangers can’t get the line change they want because they keep icing the puck.

Ya, but they got the TV timeout, which was close enough.

Nice. Power play time. Fehr drawing a penalty.

Looks like bigonetimer called it about an hour ago.
2-1 I mean.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Not true!
With this economy (and the birth of children) some of us have been forced to split tickets.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
no tonight, the reporters will find out when they get to the locker room, also they usually mention it on the post game radio show.

Yes, your really special if you can get slapped by Semin and still keep your man card.

From TSN.ca
27th – Washington Capitals: Playing some good hockey, but can they continue to play well with Brian Pothier out of the line up indefinitely?
Shootout, what a terrible way to decide a game.

Good game tonight. My main reaction to the 08-09 Caps arena experience is how oddly boybandish they’re trying to make the players seem in all the video clips. Like they’re models more than hockey players.
Oh, and that announcer desperately needs to be fired. He could not be more annoying.
Swing by The Flyer Frequent if you have nothing better to do.
Oh, and that announcer desperately needs to be fired. He could not be more annoying.
The P.A. announcer? I love him. Plus he’s a cool guy – I met him once at a 7-11 in Fairfax and he completed my on my choice of beer.
Wes Johnson is an awesome announcer.

From what I hear, Wes Johnson took a role in Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion, and they either had him or he added “CAPITAL!” to one of his characters lines as a “AWESOME” term.
He was in the Elder Scrolls 4 as the arena announcer and a few other guys. He also appeared in Fallout 3 (from Bethesda the makers of ES4) as Mr. Burke.

Spoiler alert
A few? He’s every imperial – which is the major race in the game. He’s also the Gray Fox, Lucien Laschance(spelling?), and all of the orcs. What’s sad is it took me until I saw his IMDB to realize it =(
I think you need to clean up your web browser cookies/temp files. TSN.ca has Caps at #14, which is still a tad low.
