Ordinarily, I think the Red Wings are the best-run franchise in hockey, but this move has me scratching my head. Zetterberg is a great player, and for the next 3-5 years at $6 million/year, this contract will look like a bargain.
On the other hand, He's already 28, he has a history of injuries, particularly nagging low-back injuries. He's never played a full season in the NHL, and that was during his "physical prime." This contract extension will take him until he's 41.
Does anyone else have a take on this? Pass/Fail?
