Good evening, all
Everyone suitably juiced on NoDoz for this one?

Itchy with it. . . itchy with it
I am starting to get a bit creeped out by all the rah rah Quebecois jingoism. Sure times is tough all over, but a standing ovation – in Montreal – for Vinny Lacavalier? Gimme a break. I dunno. Maybe it’s just me being overly . . . . itchy.
I think they’re drinking the “Vinny to Montreal” trade rumor Kool-Aid.

I think people don’t understand the Quebecois grabbing of each other. I have a Quebecois great grandmother, and I used that to support the Canadiens when the Caps were down and out (not hardcore, but just as my “Second Team”). They are still my second team, kind of, and I would likely be a Habs fan first had I not discovered the Caps before them. (Silly reasoning, I know.)
Football's boring. Get over it.

grabbing?
That’s not precisely what I was talking about. But. Ummm. Never mind.
Adding to the boredom...
…Bouwmeester’s only other point in an ASG came in his first appearance in 2007: an assist on a Staal goal. Same as now.
Resume your collective nap.

These sweaters are better than most from the past, to be honest.

Agreed
I was actually thinking of getting one, as my Caps sweater is apparently a jersey foul. Plus, they’re red!

This weekend I watched the 1980 ASG, the 1983, and the 1993, and none of them seemed any more “exciting” than any of the more recent games. There was definately a lot more hitting in the 80’s games, but scoring wasn’t as high. Why is everyone so down on the mid-season event?
My non-hockey-fan roommate just mentioned this game is like watching hockey in slow-motion. Couldn’t help but agree.
Granted, it’s easy to beat up on the thing (the league makes it soooo easy) but there’s really nothing redeeming about it, minus an Ovie or, well, an Ovie.

Come on, you have to admit this game has gotten significantly more interesting as it’s gone on!
You know, I also don’t get why everyone is so anti-ASG, especially since it features some of the best passing plays and biggest smiles. It seems in style to bash it because it’s not “real” hockey but I think every now and then it can be fun to watch wide open, skilled hockey.
And who has the odds of Ovie scoring a shootout goal against Luongo of all people? Grr. ;)
Dear Alex:
Please do that when it matters. Thanks.
xoxo,

Ovi might have been the most comfortable guy out there – playing in an All-Star Game is just like playing on a line with Backstrom and Semin: ridiculous amounts of skill and over-passing.

Berry Melrose just said “…the Caps have a great young scoring defenceman by the name of Mike Smith.”
ugh

Barry’s still got his Tampa goalie on the brain, it seems.
