Guess the winners?

I got:

Fastest Skater – Cogliano, followed closely by Bouwmeester

Breakaway Challenge – Patrick Kane (sorry, Alex)

Accuracy – Tomas Kaberle

Hardest Shot – got to go with Chara; might as well pick for second. I’m torn between Weber and Streit, but I have to go with my gut – Streit

by David Getz on Jan 24, 2009 6:25 PM EST reply actions

Skater – Parise
Breakaway – Ovechkin (Don’t know what the thing is, but I’ll take him over anyone)
Accuracy – Modano
Shot – Chara (Followed by Souray)

Football's boring. Get over it.

Souray over Chara, or after Chara?

by David Getz on Jan 24, 2009 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll go in this order:

Bouwmeester
Ovy
Kaberle
Souray

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

Damn it, I didn’t even realize what the breakaway challenge was, I thought it was literally breakaways. Now that I know it’s the trick shot competition, I’d have to go with Alex.

by David Getz on Jan 24, 2009 7:31 PM EST up reply actions

Wish I could watch this. Oh well. I’ll get posts from you guys. I’d go with Souray for HS behind Chara.

Football's boring. Get over it.

This musical silliness is an affront to hockey fans. I hate this crap.

by TylerG on Jan 24, 2009 7:09 PM EST reply actions

Eh, it’s not so bad, all the leagues do it. The Jonas Brothers played at an NFL game recently and when I went to the MLB ASG in Chicago The Ataris played.

by David Getz on Jan 24, 2009 7:15 PM EST up reply actions

The Jonas Brothers just played the White House too. They surprised the Obama kids by jumping out of a closet… which seems WAY too metaphorical.

by TylerG on Jan 24, 2009 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed. I’m glad it’s over.

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:16 PM EST up reply actions

Cogliano takes fastest skater at 14.36 seconds.

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:28 PM EST reply actions

14.31 seconds, I mean.

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:29 PM EST up reply actions

Marty St. Louis rocks at this.

by TylerG on Jan 24, 2009 7:36 PM EST reply actions

So what am I missing?

Football's boring. Get over it.

by Whiter Mage on Jan 24, 2009 7:38 PM EST reply actions

Ovy used props for his breakaway challenge final attempt haha

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

Wait a second. Why is Steven Stamkos in this thing?!?!

by TylerG on Jan 24, 2009 7:40 PM EST reply actions

Kovalev, Getzlaf, Ovechkin… STAMKOS?!

by TylerG on Jan 24, 2009 7:40 PM EST reply actions

Ok that does it, Ovy wins :)

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:43 PM EST reply actions

Ovie’s the man. Unreal. How long have we waited for a personality – of any sort – to hit the league?

St Louis had the coolest move but a Bucket Hat and two sticks = awesome

by CapitalsKremlin on Jan 24, 2009 7:54 PM EST reply actions

Don’t forget about the shades and spritz of gatorade!

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

I thought Stamkos’ dive which resulted in a goal was the best single move of the night.

by David Getz on Jan 24, 2009 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

that, and Getzlaf’s wraparound was brilliant

by bigonetimer on Jan 24, 2009 8:48 PM EST up reply actions

Ovie was most def inspired by some of those CP26 outfits

by Simply Sensational on Jan 24, 2009 8:12 PM EST reply actions

The announcers are ignoring the third period of the rookie game and talking up Ovechkin. Fun times.

by boz on Jan 24, 2009 8:18 PM EST reply actions

Carey Price looks like he’s straight outta Staten Island.

by sonia on Jan 24, 2009 8:26 PM EST reply actions

The breakaway challenge, that is.

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 8:36 PM EST up reply actions

awfully chummy between Ovechkin and Malkin….detente?

by bigonetimer on Jan 24, 2009 8:49 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, they’re definitely cool—otherwise Geno doesn’t dream of playing prop man for Ovechkin. Kudos to AO for asking Malkin (and not Kovalchuk or Kovalev) to assist him. In hindsight though, that was the only guy he could turn to for max. effect.

Of course, come Feb 22nd all bets are probably off…But all the hyped up North American “feud” was probably over-blown by the media.

Either way it’s still good to see what happened tonight happen, especially if you’d like to see Russia do well in 2010.

by Hooks Orpik on Jan 25, 2009 1:58 AM EST up reply actions

Apparently it was supposed to be Kovy, but they collectively thought Malkin would be a better choice, and decidedly so.

by capsfan4life on Jan 25, 2009 6:39 AM EST up reply actions

And there goes Wild Thing’s record :(

by capsfan4life on Jan 24, 2009 8:57 PM EST reply actions

Pretty sure that was AO in the background dropping an f-bomb while they were talking to Savard. LOL.
