Irony Defined...

Thought I'd share these little gems from the game recap of a popular Penguins blog

Star-divide

The rest of the second was mud until Ovechkin realized he couldn't catch Crosby and laid him into the boards when Bing let up for him.

Cooke went to send Ovechkin a message, and the ref calls a penalty.

Awful call.  Big PK was on the way.

For the second time of the game, the Caps got the jump on the Pens at the start of a period.
It helps when you get three power plays in a row.

Tee hee!

Meh. It’s their opinion (and I happen to agree that the Cooke call was questionable). And it is easier to get the jump on an opponent when you get three power plays in a row.

kind of like...

getting a bogus 4 minute high stick (i’m convinced it was his own man who hit him, it certainly was NOT Brashear) and a lame cross check to start the game with a 2:00 5-on-3.

Very much so.

Understandable.

But I love messing with them just the same. ;)

Off topic, would you mind if I hooked you up with an avatar later today? I’ve got something in mind (hint: Yvon Labre’s moustache).

Alright! See, you have no idea how far a small gesture such as this carries. Every time I see a YvonLabresMoustache comment, a little piece of me mourns its lack of accompanying graphic.

With just a few pennies a day, some day the Hockey Hall of Fame will have the funding to add the Great Moustaches Wing. Some day…

Sure!!

I post mostly from work, so I haven’t been able to put up an avatar

And in regards to complaining about the officials, didn’t Matt Cooke pretty much tackle John Erskine in front of the net on that first goal?

by YvonLabresMoustache on Jan 15, 2009 8:59 AM EST reply actions

I think when you get a four minute powerplay on a phantom call in the games first few minutes you lose just about any opportunity to complain about the referees.

I’m still not sure how Backstrom got called for tripping, but there were questionable/ iffy calls all around
