Agreed. Enormous game for Theo.

Pick one for tonight – great effort, unlucky loss or crappy effort, lucky win.

That wasn’t Brash’s stick. Doesn’t matter much.

it is clear the league tells the refs to favor the pens, every game of theirs i’ve watched (vs caps or not), so yeah, the league. doubly so since it was the fish that drew the second call
Pens are sixth in the League in PP opportunities. Caps are 15th. That proves nothing, of course. But it’s a stat.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Oh, c’mon. The double-minor was an easy call in real time, and the Schultz one… iffy, but not over the top. The Caps will get their chances.

I thought $#!%!#pitt fans were the greatest fans in the world? Why are there plenty of empty seats in the first few rows? Are they tailgating for Sunday’s game? Snow?
So CSN sends Lisa Hillary and not Al Koken. Interesting.

I’m streaming the Pens feed, and their announcers can’t stop talking about how reckless Ovie plays (in a bad way). However, they are tacitly admitting that he’s more impactful than Sid/Malkin though.

by CapitalsKremlin on Jan 14, 2009 10:09 PM EST reply actions
Glorious
Winning one at Pitt easily cancels out losing 3 in a row for me (but thankfully, not Boudreau). I only caught the tail end of the Pitt feed, but man those announcers sounded depressed (and seem not to be big fans of Ovie – while they did note him tapping his stick, they seemed stunned and were unsure at first if it was good sportsmanship), I guess it’s tough to be a Pens fan right now.
Happy Birthday, J.P.
Ovechkin and the boys came through for you.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
If I ever watch a Caps-Pens game with the Pens feed again, I’m going to cry.
Was a fun game, I only saw the third, as I had two shitty basketball games to watch my college lose while getting paid to play trumpet.
+ 1
I caught the game right before the Caps tied it at 2. The Caps feed was delayed by about 30 seconds so I watched the Pens feed and was really disgusted by what a bunch of hate-mongering homers the Pens announcers are. They constantly discussed Ovie’s lack of sportsmanship, imagined penalties against the Caps that the refs weren’t calling and generally went out of their way to sound like a bunch of ignorant assholes. Ugh!
What bugged me more was that, though the sports bar was almost all Caps fans, the management refused to put the Caps feed on. They also put a Maryland Miami basketball game on the big screen in non-smoking.
by Whiter Mage on Jan 14, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions
Interesting...
to me at least. I watched the game with my father, who was commented in the first about how terrible the caps looked. I thought they looked fine until the penalty of having your opposition clip their own guy up high (I didn’t realize you could be penalized for that! >_>) which, in all fairness, is a real ball-buster. But I kept telling him that Pittsburgh looked equally bad, but he wasn’t listening. Until I made it a point for him to notice that their #1 line had MATT COOKE on it. Really? That’s some real offense depth.
