UGGG

A lot of people had bad games tonight. Semin was back to his old self, Stecks had a horrible game. All of the forwards just stood around and didnt back check OV included. I didnt think Jose did too bad, he’s not gonna go “bizonkers” if the team doesnt play for him.

Just a frustrating game. Step the f up guys jeeze.

by MetalCap on Jan 13, 2009 10:45 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oilers played well with some help...

There were some good things:

1. Caps finally got bodies in front of the net but it ended up being their own.
2. More 1 on 3, 1 on 4 action from the Caps; we got a goal out of one rush though.
3. Team plays more like a group of individuals than a team right now…
4. Great passing entering the offensive zone from the Oilers – Caps should watch the film.
4a. Great passing was facilitated by Caps backing in every time.
5. High shot counts in the first period appear to be sign of doom.

Pens played a trap against the Flyers tonight..........and it worked........

Maybe we’ll drop the run & shoot, up & down the ice and go to a trap.
Let’s see how the Caps fare tomorrow night against the Pittsburgh Devils.

Look for a very different game tomorrow night. It may be like Minnesota or New Jersey.
Perhaps Therrien is going to this style.

by Dougeb on Jan 13, 2009 11:32 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The biggest problem the Caps had tonight was trying to play as one guy on four. This is a team sport. Gonna suck if you play that way. I’d have rather lost 4-0 playing good team hockey than 4-1 with that cutesy “I CAN DO THIS, HOLD ON” Bullshit.
