Fehr on the 2nd line huh? Interesting.

Can Ovie get through an interview without using the words “sick” or “unbelievable?”
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I, for one, would like to congratulate JP for getting his picks in on time tonight. :)
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Nyls
So if Nylander gets a hat-trick tonight, do we keep him?
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Only if he gets one at even strength, one on the power play and one shortie a la Robert Lang.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
I cannot put into words how much I hated Robert Lang when he played here.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
I still play the drinking game where you drink every time Lang wins a face-off.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
It isn't.

Yeah, mine too. The same thing happened in the last game at Buffalo.

The Caps D looks overmatched at the moment. The Poti & Schultz reaches would help. Disrupt the rushes with some pokechecks.
Quick poll – anyone prefer last night’s style of gameplay over tonights?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Push.

I’m surprised – as a hockey fan, I think the up and down in this game kills the trap.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Something that couldn’t get done last night. That’s improvement right there :)

Was Flash on the point there?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Err, supposed to be covering for AO, that is
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I thought AO was on the half board for some reason.
"Good crowd out there tonight, boys, let's really try to win this one."
by Bald Pollack on Jan 10, 2009 7:34 PM EST up reply actions
I’m giving Boudreau the benefit of the doubt – he can’t possibly have had Flash on the PP point by design. AO must’ve pinched down.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Yes. In fact, you and I were chatting about it earlier today.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Blue Jackets
Why do they keep saying that Columbus was outplayed last night? I didn’t see that, exactly.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
That this Caps juggernaut couldn’t possibly have lost to C’bus without a G standing on his head.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I was thinking decline the penalty. :)
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Decline the PP and ask for a penalty shot instead? haha

Btw, another loss for the Pens, eh? And Shanny back with the Devils?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Darn. I hear the worlds smallest violin playing the saddest songs.

How long before Bruce dumps Semin from the first PP for Laich?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Further to that point – how can Bruce talk about simplifying the PP and just getting shots and traffic when he keeps throwing out just skill guys?

I don’t recall him wearing it in a while…Backstrom had had it for several games there.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Jan 10, 2009 7:43 PM EST up reply actions
Jesus Christ. That was more blatant than Semin throwing the puck in the net.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Jan 10, 2009 7:44 PM EST up reply actions
That had the potential for the worst double-minor in hockey history.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Can we please stop with the 8-19-28 line? AO shouldn’t have anyone on his line whose goal-scoring ability he respects as much as he does Semin’s – he forces too many passes his way.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Yeah, wtf is up with that? Who has 5-inch collars?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
He’s yapping about fighting for a change, eh?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Hey, did anyone hear anything as to what went down b/t Brash and Boll last night?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
No one asked him about it, eh?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Alzner loves that shot wide to rebound off the back wall to the short-side front of the net, doesn’t he?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Alzner trying to do the bounce pass off the end boards again. I like it.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Nicky-Poo is 3/10 in the dot.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Move your damn feet, Collins.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I’m not sure what’s more frustrating…silly tripping penalties, or the fact that my pizza hasn’t gotten here yet.

I’ve got a Heavy Seas “Winter Storm” in hand. Not sure exactly who makes it, but it’s a damn fine brew.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Actually, it’s Clipper City Brewing Co. that makes it. It’s fab.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Wow. That’s an aggressive pie.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Yup, and it just arrived so I’ll be taking a break from this thread.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Jan 10, 2009 8:22 PM EST up reply actions
And another break in the third, we can presume.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
By the way, why does this game determine who the Eastern Conference coach is? What am I not comprehending here?
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
It goes by points percentage after games of Jan. 10. Whomever wins tonight has the Conf’s second-best.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Where the eff is Laich? I mean, c’mon.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
So the PP is set up to get Backstrom shooting it from 20 feet out. Killer.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
And no one to try to curl and drag around.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Better than being big-stick holders, no?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I’d be spending more time here, but my wife is addicted to facebook… especially after a couple of beers.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Mine too. They should friend each other and blow up the internets.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Tell everyone who doesn’t care about what you’re doing exactly what you’re doing.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Unlike this, which is totally rad.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I can't do this on Facebook:
ROMAN HAMRLIK.
See? Superior.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
I think I heard that the two faceoff douchebags are “actors,” but the other guys are staff.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Ref forgot whose turn it was to get a PP, so he called both.
Garbage.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Btw, for the win… I’ve got a slice of Cheesecake Factory chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake awaiting me postgame. Don’t be jealous.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
FTW, I’ve got a white russian and/or more Natty Lights. Don’t hate.
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
I’m going with the Natty Boh myself.

I’m in College Park, and can be found in section 110 at most home games.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Jan 10, 2009 8:48 PM EST up reply actions
Nice – I’m in 111 for about half the games.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Right on…next game I’ll be at is against Boston, I’m the tall dude with a beard in row K with either a red Craig Laughlin sweater, a blue Sweden Backstrom sweater, or an old-school red Jim Carey sweater.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Jan 10, 2009 8:52 PM EST up reply actions
Nice collection. I’m in 111, K for that one, sporting a red Laich.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Nice. Laich is probably next on my list of sweaters to acquire, although Alzner is rapidly working his way up the list…

My liver still resides at the Hawk n’ Dove.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Oh, btw, it wasn’t GC apparently for Joey’s naming ceremony. It was Dupont Cupcake or something like that – GC was closed that day.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
My conclusions from the second period
1) Semin should be put out by himself without any linemates
2) Steckel has really long arms
Agreed on both counts, and allow me to add a third:
3) Don van Massivehandjob blows

Probably the most fun city in the League, from what I hear.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Went up for 2nd to last year of the forum, saw Caps beat Habs 5-3 in 94. What a great time. That building is insane.
Yeah, I know some people who went up there for an Os-Expos game a few years back and had a blast. I’m sure Canadiens tickets are quite a bit more expensive than Expos tickets were, though!

And, from what I understand, the ballet up there is quite enjoyable.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I think I’m referring to a different ballet. There’s dancing in both, though.
