Yeah, those are terrible. They should outlaw black thirds.

Do you mean because of the players or because of the ice quality?

by marky narc on Dec 7, 2008 5:13 PM EST up reply actions

The former.

Sloppy seconds (game in two nights?)

Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

Ha. Yeah, there’ve been a few sloppy seconds and minutes out there so far.

The Canes actually have a D-man out there with less NHL experience – some guy named Carson playing his 1st NHL game tonight.

by marky narc on Dec 7, 2008 5:16 PM EST reply actions

New feature – Cap of the Day. Basically a chance to post some sweet cards and pretend we have a somewhat storied history. What do you think?

I can’t believe the number of scoring chances Nylander fucks up.

by xiix on Dec 7, 2008 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

The Caps look like they’re the Bears, and they look exhausted. A point here would be a massive ‘victory.’

by TylerG on Dec 7, 2008 6:16 PM EST reply actions

Everyone except for #8.

by marky narc on Dec 7, 2008 6:19 PM EST up reply actions

And yet the Caps have outshot the Canes 12-6 this period.

by marky narc on Dec 7, 2008 6:24 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah but I’ve never felt like the Caps were really close to scoring.

by TylerG on Dec 7, 2008 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

Really? I think they’ve been close a number of times, including Kozlov on that nice drop from Backy.

Long Shots?

I’ve been missing chunks of the game (basting a turkey… don’t judge). Have there been many shots from the point and/or blue line? With both goals yesterday coming from defenseman… shouldn’t they be sticking with a good thing?

My first instinct is to say it’s a European thing; more space behind the net, but I think Lepisto Sauce has had enough time to acclimate himself to the North American game.

Why does the official score sheet have 27 and 23 on the ice for the Staal goal? It was clearly Lepisto.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
