I went with Theo in TO (hey, that kinda rhymes) on the theory that they’re going to split anyway and Johnny was great in Carolina last time out, so might as well see if he can keep it going there. Also, I’d like to think that Jose is immune to such things, but getting the bench for two straight games after a somewhat shaky performance could hurt his confidence (whereas going back to him could help it).

That said, I think Johnny will start tomorrow.

Maybe someone will dig up a “JT60 on Hockey Night In Canada” stat to help us out in our voting.

I vote for Thoedore in Toronto and Johnson in Carolina. I figure if they’re going to split the games, which they should since they’re back-to-back games, I’d rather have Johnson playing against Carolina who he has seen on a regular basis for the last few seasons.

a bit OT but

as far as Salary Cap goes… if Green is about ready to come off the IR, is there anyway to put him back on the Active Roster that doesn’t involve sending Alzner back to Hershey?

I don’t think anyone clears enough room and is Alzner alone even enough?

by Wisper on Dec 5, 2008 12:51 PM EST reply actions

Green wasn’t on long term injury reserve, so the team wasn’t getting cap relief from his contract, so their cap situation should be unchanged when he comes back.

The room for Alzner to be called up comes from Clark being put on LTIR, if I’m not mistaken, so yeah, Green can come back and Alzner can stay (for now).

Mr. Clark, say hello to my friends Tonya, Jeff and Sean….

Haha

Poor Clark. It’s come to Caps fans seeing this and silently nodding. The salary cap has changed things, that’s for sure.

Even more OT

I see Avery got six games for slamming Jack Bauer’s daughter. I say forget the suspension. If he’s so adverse to “sloppy seconds”, Bettman should make him date Carol Alt for six months. That’ll teach him.

Correction: he got six games for slamming Jack Bauer’s daughter and then talking trash about the next guy in line to do so.

Sure

Six games sounds like a lot but wait until Jack Bauer finds out what he said. Then he’ll be sorry.

Perhaps they can just give Phaneuf “Jack Bauer privileges” over a tied-down Avery for about 5 minutes. That would seem sufficient.

Hard to comprehend that Dallas is paying that guy $4 million this year.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
