Giving New Meaning To "Stretch?"
H/t to Tyler, who snapped this shot while roaming the concourse at Verizon Center last night:
I can't decide whether this is the best jersey I've seen all year or a ridiculous waste of money, so I'm fine settling on both. What do you think?

awesome
in ten years, people will look at that and ask themselves who the F was that guy—great memorial
In my world, File under: Ridiculous waste of money. Only way it’s not is if the wearer’s name is Leonhardt. And then, we veer into the “can you get your last name on the back of an NHL sweater argument” that Puck Daddy ran through a few weeks back Either way, plenty other more worthy Caps to throw your hard earned cash toward…..
All this IMHO. Dude can do what he wants with his money……….
I thought the same thing (on both counts)
When I saw this guy in the men’s room after the game. I also confess I was thinking it was a kinda cool idea as well though. Not what I would do, but hey if that’s what the guy wants to spend his money one why not. For my part I’ve had my Red Sweater for 1/2 a season and still can’t decide what number to put on it.

Aw come on you party poopers – let people have their fun. :)
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Waste of money…. unless it’s Brett’s dad
A Haven for the hockey malnourished.

I might be of the opinion that it would have been funny to have a few mock t shirts made with the Leonhardt on the back. But buying a jersey takes it a bit far.
However, I will say this. It’s better than a Biron, Kiwi, Doig, or matching Glen Metro’s that used to roam around Verizon.
I love it! If there’s one thing that die-hard hockey fans do, it’s waste money on gear. A jersey like that is a great conversation starter and it commemorates a great story of the season.
+1
This is what I was thinking, although you put it better than I could ever have. It commemorates not only a great story, but why I love the organization and its people. The way they all banded together to pull out what could have been a disaster and did it with a laugh is a tale for the ages.
I don’t consider it a waste of money at all. It’s a tribute to a guy with a lot of guts and the organization around him. Don’t tell me you weren’t half-expecting him to have to go in, especially when Ruutu started running Johnson … and I for one will probably always wonder what might have happened that night if he’d had to.
I felt worse for the guy I saw with the Huet jersey after they got him last year

Go Stretch!
For the record, that’s me in the picture.
