Down with the Banana Slugs!

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 6:59 PM EST reply actions

Caps placed Fedorov on LTIR (ankle) today. This is to fit Clark back into the line-up tonight.

That’s right Captain Chris is suited up and playing tonight. Damn, it feels good to say that.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:03 PM EST reply actions

I hope it gives the guys a boost tonight. Good to see Clark back.

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 7:05 PM EST up reply actions

Indeed. Brash is back in the line-up tonight as well. I’m slightly less psyched up about that.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:05 PM EST up reply actions

Huh, any idea why Lalime is in net tonight?

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 7:05 PM EST reply actions

Not really sure, but this is the front end of a back-to-back for Buffalo, so I’m guessing Miller is/was already penciled in to play against the Isles tomorrow night.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

Lalime

Yeah, Kolbe just said Miller will go tomorrow vs the NYI. Also, Buffalo flew into DC today, so they did not want to overdue it with him (I guess it’s OK for Lalime….)

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:28 PM EST up reply actions

That makes sense.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:29 PM EST up reply actions

Right off the bat, Jose tested. Hey – he saved it!

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:09 PM EST reply actions

Is it bad that I consider it a good thing when we don’t get scored on on the first shot of the game?

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 7:10 PM EST up reply actions

You know, we shouldn’t have to keep pointing that out, but it’s always stressful when Jose is in net.

Caps are playing with five forwards in the power play again.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

Easy

Let’s recall that the NYR goals against JT were mostly the fault of of some very sketchy D-work in front of him. Certainly he could have bailed out the team with some very good saves, but it wasnt like he was out there with a red-tipped stick and sunglasses……

i think we can “breathe a sigh of relief” that we’re backchecking today, and clearing out in front of JT.

It’s geting too easy to criticize JT lately, let’s just be sure it’s fair…..

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:19 PM EST reply actions

Oh yeah, I don’t disagree with that at all. The entire team stunk against NYR in the first period.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:20 PM EST up reply actions

I see they’ve got Clark on the “fourth” line with Brash and Gordo.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:19 PM EST reply actions

Nice save. Not nice being unable to keep it in the zone on a power play.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:25 PM EST reply actions

yeah, not really sure what brooks was doing there.

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

In other news.....

NHL indentified these teams as the top sellers in “third jerseys” so far this season.:

    Pittsburgh Penguins
    Buffalo Sabres
    Philadelphia Flyers
    Boston Bruins
    Edmonton Oilers
    New York Islanders

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:37 PM EST reply actions

I notice most of those are teams that are using a retro uniform as their third jersey.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

as much as I hate the Flyers

those orange retro thirds they wore the other night were dope

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

was always a sucker for the NYI jerseys of yore…….

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:55 PM EST up reply actions

Another penalty free period for the Caps. I like it.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:41 PM EST reply actions

that only means that the refs will realize this during the intermission and “even things up” in the second period (so they can “swallow the whistle” in the third). It’s one of the many things that bugs me about the NHL. actually, it drives me crazy……

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:44 PM EST up reply actions

holy cow, comcast is showing highlights from the world juniors?!

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 7:43 PM EST reply actions

did they show Tavares’ goal from the other night?. nice hand-eye coordination…….

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:45 PM EST reply actions

that guy is amazing. He’s gonna look great in a Tampa uniform…

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

ha!

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

Tampa? You mean Quebec, right?

by Whiter Mage on Dec 26, 2008 9:42 PM EST up reply actions

more funny stuff....

Pens 0-0 after 1 with the NJD. They had 2 pp’s but only 5 SOG. They really are having some issues getting rubber at goalies. Funny when i keep reading Malkin will get 140-150….

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Atlanta 1-0 over Carolina…..

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 8:02 PM EST reply actions

Suddenly, the Brash/Gordo/Clark line thinks it’s an scoring line. :)

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

Theo

is looking all right tonight.

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:09 PM EST reply actions

I’d really like us to take advantage of the back-up being in net tonight…

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:10 PM EST up reply actions

The Caps seem to be having better chances.

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:11 PM EST up reply actions

Like, I barely remember any Shots on Goal by the Sabres. No wonder their fans are pissed this year.

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:12 PM EST up reply actions

NHL game tracker says the shots are 18-11, but the Caps do have more “in-front” shots.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

that was a sweet move by Brash, too bad he didnt go straight to the net

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

He’s providing some energy tonight, right?

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:15 PM EST up reply actions

guy’s got great hands…for a ‘goon’

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 8:17 PM EST up reply actions

yeah, but the Caps only have 2 SOG this period……

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 8:12 PM EST reply actions

Are they both from Brashear/Clark’s line? lol

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

shots are 3-3 this period.

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

Yep, there we go.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:13 PM EST reply actions

would have bet a bunch the next penalty would be called on us……

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

(and no, i dont play for the Caps). I use the term “us” to mean the team I support……(I usually mock the we/us/our crowd…..

by Pi on Dec 26, 2008 8:16 PM EST up reply actions

I though we were getting a shortie there…

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:17 PM EST reply actions

That was a good oppty

the Sabres D were scrambling and running around

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:20 PM EST reply actions

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:20 PM EST reply actions

that looked like it hurt.

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

Did they announce something or did you see it?

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

he limped off to the dressing room, assisted .

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

He blocked that shot with his ankle and skated off limping.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:21 PM EST up reply actions

thanks, apparently i totally missed it

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

He blocked that shot from Ovi then basically crawled to the bench.

by Ames on Dec 26, 2008 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

Lalime should’ve had that one I think…

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 8:27 PM EST reply actions

oh yeah, for sure…but good for us!

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 8:27 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, but I’ll take it.

I

by Ames on Dec 26, 2008 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

by Ames on Dec 26, 2008 8:29 PM EST reply actions

that’s not what I had in mind…

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 8:29 PM EST reply actions

I don’t know…Lalime was selling it

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 8:29 PM EST reply actions

Back on it. 4 on 3. Lots of room to move

by Ames on Dec 26, 2008 8:30 PM EST reply actions

Taking goals away from Ovie only gets him riled up more. A-OK by me. Caps gat a 4-on-3 power play? Don’t see too many of those.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 8:30 PM EST reply actions

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 9:19 PM EST up reply actions

I thought you couldn’t score with your body “intentionally.”

by Whiter Mage on Dec 26, 2008 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

Crap

Sabres were finally playing with some urgency. It worked.

by Pookie on Dec 26, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply actions

Not too keen on Ovie taking an icing there.

I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

by marky narc on Dec 26, 2008 9:23 PM EST reply actions

solid game by jose as well.

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 9:24 PM EST reply actions

by bigonetimer on Dec 26, 2008 9:33 PM EST up reply actions

would love a 10 point lead over the canes after tonight!

by sonia on Dec 26, 2008 9:26 PM EST reply actions

Canes just made it 5-4….ATL’s defense is horrible. Yikes.

by DebCapsFan on Dec 26, 2008 9:46 PM EST up reply actions

Derek Roy is a Sidney Crosby wannabe without the talent. I’m not kidding. That guy got away with a billion slashes, and dove at least three times. He also broke his stick on the post after his team lost.

In general, the Sabres AND their fans seem to be a ton of whiny bastards, who like taking little cheap shots. I’m sick and tired of it.

by Whiter Mage on Dec 26, 2008 9:46 PM EST reply actions

without the talent? so i guess he is sidney ‘dead wood’ crosby then

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
