Optimism. Nice.
I’ve got 4-1 bad guys.

Btw, Michael Belhumeur’s signature reads “I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as marky narc does.” Crazy.

Damn, Marky – you almost nailed it.

No, it’s cool – we’re not playing the Bruins.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Guess we’ll see who he views as the bigger threat to the B’s
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
That’s an aggressive goatee Nyls is growing.

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to use this image this soon….

They don’t have Henrik Lundqvists in the AHL, do they, Rooster?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
JP
Gonna be up your way this weekend. Might get lucky and catch the Caps/Sabres in DC.
On that note, all the best of holidays to everyone!

Nice. I’ll be going to that game as well – if you end up going, let me know and we’ll grab a drink. That goes for all of you, really.

Man, Bradley is frickin’DUEno threat whatsoever to score.
Fixed that for you
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Caps looking better in the second five minutes than in the first five.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
The third five haven’t been good…
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Why was Theo trying to play goal near the Trapezoid….?
by CapitalsKremlin on Dec 23, 2008 7:26 PM EST reply actions
He’s making sure the puck doesn’t go in there so he doesn’t accidentally play it in there and get a penalty. Duh.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Juice, Koz and Alzner all -3 so far.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Caps have five forwards on the ice.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
What a depressing time to log on from San Fran to check in on the game. On the bright side, I’m about to go drink a ridiculous amount of ancient, single-malt Scotch.
Yeah, enjoy your night – we won’t.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
My dad and I were just commenting on that possibility

Q
If we are going to have shotty goalkeeping, why don’t we just play Varlamov for good and see what he can do. Of course we’d have to find a suitor to take JT off our hands.
In part b/c if they’re going to play D like this, why ruin a young goalie?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Is there any lingering JT60 injury that can be leveraged into an LTIR? Or is that believed to be, gasp, healed?
I sincerely hope this happens to Theo on X-mas eve

-4 for Viktor.
Semin perpetually injured for the past month.
Curse of Puck Daddy?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
JT is an easy scapegoat, but this has been a team effort…
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
They’re trying to get Callahan the hat trick…
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Three or More is really shaky
He doesn’t look ready for anything. As I write it, he makes a couple of saves.
Will Bradley get his ass kicked to complete the trouncing?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Figuratively, he (and everyone) else already are.
God, this is one-sided.
I think that went in off of Rozival.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

Jesus, Alex is bombs away tonight
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Setting an example is never a waste. Besides, another one goes in and we could have a game.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Thx, WM – missed this the first time ’round.
And Happy Hannukah to you as well.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I missed the first period.
I s the team playing better or is just 3ormre making an occasional save?
Better? Yes. But the bar was set awfully low.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Nice – I was not expecting Nicky to shoot there. Neither was Henrik.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Who’s the new guy they got in net?
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
Nope, we only get Giroux because he’s the only cherry-picker out there.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I mean, you can see why he scores a lot in the AHL – he basket-hangs and unleashes his AHL moves on crappy goalies.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I'll buy that, but........
Didn’t they say Lundquist was 25 out of 27 on the shootout?
Something like that. I didn’t mean to take away from Hank – just to take away from Rooster.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I understood that
Just as Victor pound one by him. lol
Rags were 57/63 (90.5%) in home PKs coming into tonight. Now they’ve given up two in 5.5 minutes.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Oh, there's JT
Well, he seems to have shown up 20 minutes late. Now this has turned into a hell of an entertaining game.
And really, I didn’t have tremendously high hopes that we would be able to win it.
Btw, hate to say it but… I wouldn’t mind having Sami Lepisto right now.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Yes!
I just scared the dog when I yelled.
Hey, Caps fans in the stands! My heart goes out to them…

Anyone who thinks there’s a better player in the NHL should watch this game.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Ovechkin must be the heaviest guy in the league
When he is on the bench, the Rangers are skating down hill. When he is on the ice, the whole place looks like it’s tilted the other way.
TV timeout couldn’t have come at a better time.
What an absolutely improbably point
Unbelieveable.
And didn’t I say this morning that the Rags don’t blow anyone out? See?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Holy Christ. Two days early.
Unreal.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Well, wasn't that special?
I’m feeling a little bulletproof right now.
Did you see boomer shaking his head as he walked out?
Stunning. Positively stunning.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I can think of only one other 4-0 deficit they have wiped out
And that was against our favorite blue clad bunch of turds too. Early 1980. I think they scored five games in the 3rd period.
Sadly, I can remember a 6-1 first period lead that the Caps coughed up to the Rags at the old building in Landover.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I was just talking about that game tonight. I think it was in 91-92 or 92-93

THAT was the perfect example of an MVP performance by Ovechkin. It’s almost as if he invented a new gear after we went down 4-0.
Ovechkin led by example, skating as hard as he possibly could, hitting everything in sight and firing from everywhere just trying to force something to happen out of sheer will. And it worked.
Ovechkin didn’t let up, his teammates followed suit. Heck we even saw Kozlov out hustle someone a couple times. Just an amazing game.
BOY HOWDY DID YOU MISS SOMETHING
We go down 4-0 by 30 minutes in, 4-1 at the end of the second, tied at 4 at the end of the third, and ShaMo gives us the GWG in overtime.
And Theodore actually looked like the goalie he’s being paid to be. Let’s hope it gives him some confidence back.
Nah, JP. I got up from my computer at 3-0, and then moved away from one side of the couch to the other at 4-0. I also stopped flipping to the Boise State game. At 4-3, I was fidgeting with a present wrapping paper roll and the caps weren’t scoring, so I put it down, and then Ovechkin – Wham.
I used to play goalie. Maybe that explains it.
