Meet The Latest "New Guy"
If Andrew Gordon plays tonight, he'll be the sixth Capital to make his NHL debut this season, joining Tyler Sloan, Karl Alzner, Sean Collins, Oskar Osala and Simeon Varlamov as the current holders of that distinction.
Gordon, who is described as a "high-energy forward" (and who head coach Bruce Boudreau compares to the Kings' Dustin Brown, who Boudreau coached in Manchester), is off to a good start in his second year as a pro (10 goals, 10 assists in 30 games played), which is no surprise, given what he has done since leaving the amateur ranks:
For much more on Gordon, check out the red skate and OFB and our own coverage of "the other" Gordon.
One last note of interest to geeks like me - per the team (thanks, Paul), Andrew Gordon will wear "A. Gordon" on his nameplate tonight, while Boyd Gordon will wear just "Gordon."

ala Dustin Brown?
sounds like a player we desperately need. excited to see another youngster step into the big league for the first time.
maybe he makes a case to stay up or at least be a healthy scratch.

Healthy scratch?! Bwahahahaha! As if the Caps have had the luxury of benching an able-bodied player in the past two months. Good one, NS – I needed that.

Talk about keeping the rook in his place ;)

1) They should screw with the announcers and play them both on the same line! ; ) Who would Laughlin call ’Gordo"
2) Having the kid play with Tomas Fleischmann and Brooks Laich might make for an intersting trio.

By the by … Johnson’s sick (and I wonder if that explains Saturday, apparently he looked way off in practice as well today) so Theodore is surprise starting.

Perhaps Johnny fell ill when he realized The Donald wasn’t dressing and that his hip was still hurting a bit.

How about...
….we get rid of useless beings like Poti, Clark, and Nylander to make room for all the good youngins’ we have on their way up….

Have to disagree with you calling Poti useless.

Dude… Poti? Useless? How do you figure?

:)
1. Poti isn’t “useless”
2. Clark is our captain for a reason, injured or not.
3. we don’t need to reiterate (yet again) why Nylander can’t be simply brushed aside.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.

Regarding Poti
What wesvenis really meant by “useless” was “best all-around defenseman on the Washington Capitals”. Easy mistake.

You have a right to your opinion....but....
Poti has been “very good to excellent” since we obtained him. Remember last year, he played most of the year with a bum shoulder. Coach BB seems more worried about Poti being out than Green, frankly.
Clark, if/when healthy, is a good player. We just don’t know how much he lost with the horrid groin injury last year, and the setback this year with the arm/wrist.
Nyls — well, you either hate him or love him and sometimes both emotions, even in the same shift. Not sure we’ll ever be able to trade him with the limited/no movement clause allegedly in his contract.

Just read the Gordon-jersey-bit. I’d love to see an “A” and “B” Gordon – something about it just strikes as funny….

Speaking of A's
Who wears the third “A” tonight? Obviously, Ovechkin gets his and Bradley’s been wearing one but i believe Poti, Brashear and Feds are the only others to wear one this season. If it were up to me I’d go with Laich.

I just finished eating Chinese food. My lucky numbers, 21, 8, 60.
Good omen, or sign of the apocalypse?

I would say the latter based on the last number, and if your stomach sends you to the shitter before the puck drops then that confirms it.
