"I have already been to the doctor. I think that maybe my nerve was hit. And now it is squeezed. I can hardly walk. I have no clue how many games I am going to miss. I felt bad this morning. I feel worse than I did yesterday. I am trying to [use] pain relievers... I am so tired of these injuries. Just [recently] one injury healed, my shot got better. And here is another one. God, when is this all going to end?"

F***……
Well, we just have to do it without Semin now don’t we. Looking at you Flash to pick it up even more!

1) Doesn’t sound like he’s ready to come back any time soon. ..and when he does he’s gonna have a huge bul’s eye on that back for the opposition to whack with apparent impunity.
2) By the way, if he was diving as the referee insisted, why didn’t they call an unsportsmanlike penalty on Semin?
God, when is this all going to end?
answer: when you frickin retire.
sorry, but this whole interview sounds a bit pussified. I hope something was lost in translation.
Whatever
I missed 6 months of my college hockey career with a back injury. It is not fun and, depending on the injury, it makes every part of your body feel like it has a hue knife stuck in it. The translation may have been a bit melodramatic, but the idea that it is pussifed is bs.
Sounds like a disc/nerve injury
and although I am far wussier than the average hockey player, those are very debilitating. It’s going to take some time to heal. I wouldn’t expect him back in less than a month.
It was a dirty play, but I’m starting to think we’ve got the second coming of Martin Havlat. He’s a great player, but every time he gets on a groove he gets injured.
Two early to say that. Besides, having been sidelined 6 months with a back injury in the past, I can tell you that it was a vicious cross-check and the reaction was genuine. As soon as it happened I knew he was really hurt. We may not see him again until the playoffs, if then.
Ease Up It Was a Joke
Anyone who has seen me comment in the past knows I am a huge Semin fan and the one who started I Fall Down Go Boom. I was at the game the other night and nearly passed out myself watching the hit and replays of it. That being said, sorry some of you didn’t recognize my reference to Semin’s recent feature in Cosmo Siberia.
Cross-checking
I have actually been bitching about this to my friends for weeks. The slightest stick tap these days puts you in the box two minutes for hooking, incidental stick contact that would have been ignored in the past is now tripping, and there a phantom interference calls everywhere. And yet, what do I see every single game? Someone (Caps included) cross-checking someone in the back along the boards. It is never called.
Now, this one was particuarly disgusting, since Semin was already down. This guys should be fined if not suspended. But the problem starts with the NHL not calling this stuff. One or two refs not calling it is poor officiating, seeing it in almost every game is a pattern. The NHL better get its priorities straight.
Oh, btw, I don’t care how many guys backed away from Brashear. He should have gone after this guy, looked him in the eye, and put his fist down his throat. If we are going to pay you way more than your worth a year, you find a way to do your job.
Liar, liar, pants on fire
Listen, Semin is faking this injury. He has to be because the ref ( I’m not a doctor, but I play one on the ice) told Bruce that he didn’t call the cross check because Semin was diving. So there it is, Semin’s making the whole thing up because the ref said he is. And Alex, to prove the ref is wrong, will sit out the next two weeks. And when he comes back, the ref will say “See I told you he was faking it.” Make sense?
danger
this also does not fare well for Semin resigning once extension is over. sounds like he is already done with the physical NHL play.
KHL, anyone?
