Semin's injury

I’m still blown away when I watch something like that and no penalty is called. Maybe I’m biased but it seems like the Caps still haven’t “earned” that respect with the refs to get some of those calls. In this case I think it came back to bite the refs in the you-know-what because they almost lost control of the game following the cross check to Semin’s back. And Laughlin was right, at that point in the game you can let the trip go, but you can’t let the cross check go…and don’t tell me that you didn’t see it. Terrible no call, and they should be ashamed of themselves when they watch the replay tonight.

Greenie

Yeah but I hope this thing doesn’t linger the rest of the season. We need a healthy Mike Green manning the blue line to win the Southeast and go deep in the playoffs.

Caps don’t need ANYTHING to win the southeast. They can win it sleepwalking just by default.

Hard to know what to make of that comment coming from a Flyers fan. ;-)

Irrespective of whether or not you are right I’d rather have a healthy Mike Green.

I don’t think we see either one of them against the Flyers on Saturday, sadly. On the upside, if I read this time right they could still be playing with pure fury on Saturday. I know they played most of the third in pure fury, and the result was frightening to behind. Ovi was a one-man wrecking ball out there, and I don’t think I saw Backes again because Brash was circling looking for him.

I take back what I said about Brash not being willing to fight after seeing that. He was spoiling for one, and BB was gonna let him.

Man, I see I need to go to bed, or at least edit myself. “read this time” – “read this team”, “behind” should be “behold”.

I guess so, because we didn’t see much of him after that. Chickenf*er. :P

Here’s to a chippy, hard-fought, high-flying game and another W! LET’S GO CAPS!

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
