"...never heard of.....
ah, to be part of the cognoscenti. I was living in Vancouver during the DV halcion days, when he battled alongside stalwarts such as Gary Smith, Don Lever, Chris Oddliefson, Andre Boudrias, Dennis Kearns, and Harold Snepts against the evil Black Hawks (Conn Smythe Division). We rushed to school early each morning to toss hockey cards against the wall (3rd grade) – closest to the wall got both. Still have many of those cards. Thanks for the memories. JP – The new Site is great.
Thanks, 3.14159265 times over, Pi (lame joke, I know).
When I post these, my hope is that for at least one person, it sparks a “Christ, I haven’t heard that name in ages” reaction (or something similar). I love hearing people’s memories of Mike Ridley and Syl Cote et. al. (a bit more “my generation” than the fellas from the ’70s and early ’80s), but the people who remember the randoms really make my day, so thanks again.

He was a really good player with Vancouver, but by the time he got to DC he was pretty well finished. Not a bad player, but the guy could skate back in the day. In the years leading up to David Poile’s tenure as GM, the Caps were pretty much a place fot the Flyers to send their cast-offs (Garry Innes, Bob Kelly, this guy…). While playing for the Caps back then wasn’t a treat (the Flyers were good, the Caps weren’t) at least it was the NHL. The WHA would have been worse.
Thankfully, a braincell fired in Abe’s head the day he hired Poile, and Poile immediately set about to save the Caps…which he did.
