quite a few chips to play
at the trade deadline for a bona fide RW…
Kudos to GMGM. For all the great work David Poile did in DC, that was one area where he just didn’t have much luck (yup, with Kolzig factored in)
you'd think
they’d want to get him some face time with da bears, but what do you do with two guys playing great in “front” of him?
I just fear we trade away one that turns out to be the next Brodeur, and keep the Maxime Ouellet (I recall how much hype he got!) Maybe Poile liked to trade for established vets because the G is the hardest position to draft for
earlier discussion
was that one of the 3 (probably neuvirth or varls) loaned out to another AHL team…
ideally i think this is the same route until all 3 have a chance to play against the big boys…
i still think cheese should get the first look with the big club…
Hey guys, first post here
Been a member of SBN for a few years mainly through the Mariners site (Lookoutlanding). I grew up in CT as a Whalers fan and had been teamless since their departure. I’ve now been in DC for the past 6 years and have been slowly getting into the Caps and have finally gotten to watch about 75% of the games this year. I love the youth and excitement I’ve been seeing.
Anywho, I’ve been a pretty big follower of the baseball online and sabremetric communities and was wondering if hockey had any equivalents? Where do you guys go for information and analysis? Is there anyone crunching numbers or any must read sites? Is everything mainly team specific or is anyone doing any real generalized analytical work? Thanks for any insight and I look forward to posting again and being part of this community.
Welcome, DCM!
Yeah, the two sites toymechanic notes below are solid for stats.
A couple more:

I’m blanking on others. They’ll come to me. Stick around, because I link to ’em all the time.

couple sites, not sure if hockey stats translate like baseball stats.
While I’d agree with that to an extent (because the numbers are real bad), after that first game, Jose ran off four straight starts with three or fewer goals allowed. He’s been up and down all season, from the word go.

Ahh, Guess the crystal ball was working too well...
Guess Brett is good enough to get the call for back-up tonight, at least until Simeon arrives.
