George McPhee was the picture of akwardness during his intermission interview.

Well, that felt good. And Jose gets the playing-the-former-team money off his back.

Did that just happen?

That was stupefying.

The quiet key to the game was the Caps’ ability to avoid the box. MTL had less than five minutes of PP time.

And MTL had no PP shots, sez JP.

Hmmmm

These game threads need punching up!

Great win over the Habs though. Hopefully that’ll shut up some of their fans.

No shit, right? I’m embarrassed. You get, what, 600+ posts per open thread?

Wow

Man, you know, this is just a glimpse. I can’t wait for the Hershey Factory to get here in earnest.

Sprinkle the puck?

I’m sure I’ve heard JoeB say it scores of times, but does he really say “sprinkle the puck”? He said it on a Backstrom pass during a PP last night. I suppose I should be happy because I know what it looks like now.

As for last night, the Flash/Nylander goal was sweet. On the road trip out west that pass back from Nylander jumps over Flash’s stick.

In Atlanta, a D pass from behind the net hit forechecking Todd White’s stick in the same way, but the deflection went into the net. Just weird how there are two like plays on the same night.

i thought nyls was fantastic last night

by Ovechkin on Nov 29, 2008 12:01 PM EST reply actions

he was...

except for that bonehead turnover at our blue line after his sixth figure eight. That was a great play by both Nyls and Flash for the first goal though.

true that was halirous

Backstrom's Alley-oop

Anyone get a kick out of Backstrom’s alley-oop flip pass from behind the net last night? I’ve never seen that before, and it would’ve been Goal of the Year if Ovie had smacked it into the net when it hit the ice.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
