Reality Checks
When a player specifically asks a team for an offer of a certain duration and dollar amount, the team makes that offer and the player walks away, that's not "hit[ting] a couple snags." It's something, but it's not that. And when a player who has stated repeatedly that he doesn't want to be a back-up signs a deal with the League's mad scientists to be part of a goaltending tandem with an unproven young player, the jury's very much out on whether or not he's going to be "a terrific mentor."
Just sayin'.
