Putting The O's Woes In Hockey Perspective
As you probably already know, the Baltimore Orioles (supposedly a Major League baseball team) gave up more runs in the first game of last night's doubleheader than any team did in a single game during the entire 20th century en route to a 30-3 loss to the mediocre-at-best Texas Rangers. To put this historic blowout in terms we can all understand, given the teams' respective positions in the standings and that, on average, MLB teams are scoring around 4.75 runs per game so far this year and NHL teams scored an average of 2.87 goals per game last year, the hockey equivalent of last night's demolition would be like last year's Blackhawks going into Carolina and beating the Hurricanes... 18-2. Rough night for Cam Ward, eh?
