The big news of the day (actually of yesterday) for Caps fans is the signing of Alexander Ovechkin (stories here, here and here all say pretty much the same thing - he's good).A couple of big names were on the move on Friday as well. Here's a recap:
- The Blackhawks signed goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin and forward Jim Dowd.
- Paul Kariya signed with the Predators. Back in 2002-03, he made $10 million. Now he plays in Nashville.
- The Leafs signed Jason Allison.
- Atlanta signed tough guy Eric Boulton.
- Dallas inked goaltender Johan Hedberg and defenseman Stephane Robidas.
- The Avs signed Brad May.
- The Penguins have signed Ziggy Palffy, giving them a very formidable but injury-prone top line.
- The Preds have added Scott Nichol.
- Carolina signed Ray Whitney.
